St Joseph’s School is seeking a dynamic Catholic educator to be the school’s Assistant Principal for 2027 and 2028.
We are looking for a highly relational leader passionate about Catholic education, developing teacher capacity and improving outcomes for every student. The successful applicant will demonstrate contemporary educational practice, effective leadership and a strong commitment to collaboration, professional growth and the strategic direction of our school.
St Joseph’s School is a co-educational primary school located in the Kununurra. It caters for children from 3YOK to Year 6 with an enrolment of 140 students. Our school has a strong connection with St Vincent Pallotti Parish, creating a welcoming and supportive community grounded in our Catholic identity.
We place a robust emphasis on pastoral care, inclusion, dignity and the development of the whole child, celebrating and embracing students and families from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
Selection Criteria
Applicants need to show evidence of successful leadership and must be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education. We are seeking the following qualities:
- Be supportive and actively involved in the Catholic Church and demonstrate the ability to help build our Catholic identity and culture.
- Demonstrated capacity to build respectful, culturally responsive partnerships with First Nations students, families and communities.
- Work alongside educators to facilitate an inclusive curriculum where access, participation and learning outcomes of students with diverse educational and additional needs are provided for.
- Have the ability to analyse and use student data to lead staff in raising student levels of achievement, drive future focus and guide school improvement processes.
- Be a leader with an ability to use initiative, introduce new ideas, drive change and mentor staff.
- Excellent classroom practice that promotes cooperation, communication and student confidence.
- Lead curriculum, the delivery of effective pedagogy, and build the capacity of others especially in the Early Years.
- Have a high level of organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage with all levels of the school and educational community.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor of Education
- Be an active member of the Catholic Church
- Have a minimum of seven years’ experience and Accreditation to Lead or working towards
