We're looking for an experienced and motivated Chef to take ownership of kitchen operations within a residential aged care setting in Clayton. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading a team while creating meals that are meaningful, nutritious, and tailored to a diverse community.
You'll play a central role in shaping the dining experience for residents, ensuring every meal supports wellbeing, comfort, and cultural preferences.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Designing and preparing meals that cater to varied dietary needs, cultural backgrounds, and personal tastes
- Leading daily kitchen operations and guiding a small, dedicated team
- Planning menus, refining recipes, and managing food costs effectively
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and infection control
- Ordering supplies and managing stock levels to ensure smooth service
- Keeping kitchen spaces clean, compliant, and audit-ready
- Monitoring meal quality and presentation to enhance resident satisfaction
- Acting on feedback to continuously improve food services
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience as a Chef, ideally in healthcare, aged care, or high-volume environments
- Minimum 1-2 years of chef experience in a professional kitchen environment
- Experience preparing and cooking Greek cuisine
- Confidence leading and supporting a team in a busy kitchen
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and compliance requirements
- Ability to balance quality, efficiency, and cost control
- A genuine interest in preparing meals that respect cultural diversity
- Solid organisational and communication skills
