Company Description Prancing Pony Brewery is a craft brewery based in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, known for handcrafted, naturally unfiltered beers with bold, lingering flavors. The on-site venue, The Brewshed, is located within the commercial brewing space and offers a rustic industrial setting with a relaxed atmosphere, indoor seating and a beer garden.
Visitors can enjoy a range of beers, one-off brews, and a food menu designed “from the beer up” to complement the brews, featuring fresh local ingredients and family-friendly options. The Brewshed also provides a unique industrial tourism experience, where guests can see and learn about the brewing process firsthand.
Role Description The Chef De Partie is a full-time, on-site role based at Prancing Pony Brewery in Totness, SA. This position is responsible for preparing and cooking dishes that align with the brewery’s “from the beer up” philosophy, ensuring each menu item complements the range of craft beers. Day-to-day tasks include managing a designated section of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, and supporting smooth service during busy trading periods.
The Chef De
Partie collaborates with the Head Chef and kitchen team on menu development, mise en place, and consistent execution of small bites, burgers, tasting platters, and family-friendly fare. The role also involves adhering to food safety and hygiene standards, managing stock levels, minimizing waste, and contributing to a positive, respectful team culture.
Qualifications
- Experience working as a Chef De Partie or similar role in a busy kitchen, ideally in gastro pub, brewery, or casual dining environments.
- Solid skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating, with attention to consistency and quality.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and compliance with relevant health regulations.
- Ability to manage a kitchen section independently, including mise en place, service, and cleaning routines.
- Solid time management and organizational skills to work efficiently during peak service times.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to communicate clearly and work well within a diverse kitchen and front-of-house team.
- Interest in craft beer and in pairing food with beer, with willingness to learn about the brewery’s products and processes.
- Culinary qualifications or apprenticeship training are highly regarded; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required by hospitality trading hours.
