As our highly valued Chief Information Officer, you will contribute to ensuring a bright future for Queensland, Australia and our global partners. You will do this with people who want you to grow and progress.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) leads TIQ's technology, cyber security, digital transformation, data and information management, and artificial intelligence (AI) functions. The role provides strategic leadership, governance and expert advice to ensure TIQ's digital and technology environment is secure, resilient, compliant and aligned with organisational priorities.
The CIO drives innovation, organisational capability and customer-focused service delivery through effective technology, data and AI strategies. The role is responsible for leading the ethical, secure and responsible adoption of AI, strengthening governance frameworks, managing technology risk, and influencing enterprise-wide change to deliver practical, future-focused business outcomes.
The successful candidate will be a strategic and influential leader with strong stakeholder engagement skills, proven experience advising executives, and the ability to build trusted relationships, drive organisational change and deliver results in complex environments.
Based in Brisbane, here’s what your role will involve:
- Strategic Leadership and Vision - Demonstrated ability to think strategically and set the long-term direction for digital, technology, cyber security, data and information management strategies and artificial intelligence initiatives, while balancing operational priorities, risks, opportunities and emerging business needs.
- Executive ICT Leadership - Proven experience leading enterprise-wide technology, digital transformation, cyber security and data and information management strategies within a complex public sector, government or regulated environment,
delivering innovative solutions that support organisational objectives and long-term capability.
- Governance, Risk and Compliance Expertise - Extensive knowledge of Queensland Government digital, cyber security, information management, privacy, records management, data governance and procurement requirements, with the ability to apply these obligations effectively in business decision-making.
- Influence and Decision-Making - Demonstrated ability to influence executives, boards, governance committees, stakeholders and suppliers to make informed decisions that balance innovation, risk, compliance, cost, usability and organisational outcomes.
- Executive Communication and Stakeholder Management - Highly developed communication, negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, provide transparent executive advice, and operate effectively in complex, high-pressure and politically sensitive environments.
- Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Leadership - Strong understanding of emerging technologies, including generative AI, automation and advanced analytics, with demonstrated experience leading AI, digital innovation or emerging technology initiatives that deliver measurable organisational benefits while addressing governance, risk, security and ethical considerations.

Executive Leadership, Strategy and Governance
- Provide high level strategic analysis and policy advice to the TIQ Board, Audit, Finance and Risk Management Committee, CEO, and members of the Executive Leadership Team on all aspects of information management, information and cyber security, information technology, telecommunications, and data management.
- Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement and career development.
- Own TIQ's enterprise technology, cyber security, digital, data and information management strategies, ensuring governance, investment and risk decisions align with organisational priorities and government requirements.
- Champion enterprise-wide collaboration and provide leadership on strategic initiatives that impact multiple business areas.
Digital, Data, Cyber Security and Information Management Leadership
- Set the strategic direction for digital, data, cyber security and information management capabilities across TIQ's global operation
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Lead and oversee the delivery of digital solutions that enable business strategy,
operational planning and end-to-end service delivery, driving innovation, efficiency and measurable organisational outcomes, while ensuring delivery teams and suppliers remain accountable for execution.
- Lead TIQ's enterprise cyber security strategy and cyber resilience approach, including security risk ownership, incident preparedness, executive escalation, supplier assurance, and alignment with Queensland Government cyber security requirements, including IS18, the Queensland Government Information Security Classification Framework (QGISCF), ISO 27001 principles and Essential Eight maturity expectations.
- Provide authoritative leadership and executive advice on Queensland Government information management, privacy, records, data classification, retention, disposal and protected information handling requirements, applying these obligations directly to practical business use cases and organisational decision-making.
- Own enterprise data governance, information architecture, data quality, stewardship, trusted reporting and the responsible use of analytics and artificial intelligence, including the secure and effective adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot and other emerging technologies, ensuring data and AI are governed and leveraged strategically to support evidence-based decision making, operational excellence and innovation across TIQ.
- Ensure security-by-design, privacy-by-design and information-governance-by-design principles are embedded into systems, procurement, projects, platforms, collaboration tools and digital service design.
- Own project and program governance, assurance, financial oversight, quality and compliance, ensuring transparent escalation and effective controls.
- Lead and manage the continual improvement and development of the ITD core systems through software release management in partnership with the ITD business and managed services partners.
Strategic Investment, Architecture and Delivery Assurance
- Own enterprise architecture, technology standards and platform roadmaps to ensure sustainable, secure and strategically aligned technology investments.
- Provide executive oversight and assurance of major technology, cyber, digital and data initiatives, ensuring effective governance, risk management and benefits realisation.
- Lead strategic ICT sourcing, supplier management, contract performance and value-for-money outcomes across technology services and vendors.
- Own ICT business continuity, disaster recovery and operational resilience strategies, providing executive leadership during significant technology or cyber incidents.
- Ensure compliance, audit readiness and effective control frameworks across technology, cyber security, information management, privacy and data governance.
Stakeholder & Partnership Management
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives, government agencies, industry partners and key stakeholders to support strategic outcomes.
- Represent TIQ in government, industry and inter-agency forums, providing authoritative advice and promoting contemporary digital, cyber and data practices.
- Influence and enable organisational change by securing executive support for strategic technology, data and digital initiatives.
