The Prospect
We have a growing portfolio of community engagement projects across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria and we're looking for a Community Engagement Assistant to support our team.
This is an initial 2-month contract based in our Fitzroy office, starting Monday 19 October 2026. You'll work alongside a Manager and a multidisciplinary team of planning and engagement consultants on a range of community engagement projects. The role would suit a graduate or early-career professional with up to 3 years' experience.
Your background might be in community engagement, community development, urban planning, design or architecture. Collaboration with CoFutures team members is central to the role.
What you'll be doing
- Support our engagement team to plan, coordinate and deliver community engagement activities, including workshops, drop-ins and pop-up events
- Preparing engagement materials including presentations, run-sheets,
agendas, surveys and promotional materials
- Review and analyse community feedback
- Contribute to writing engagement reports
- Help keep projects running smoothly, from scheduling and bookings to managing engagement records
What you'll need to succeed in this role
- Confidence and a passion for engaging with people and listening to community
- Effective communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and active listening.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn
- Proficiency using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign (graphic design experience is highly regarded)
- A degree in urban planning, urban design, community development, architecture or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Availability to start from Monday 19 October 2026
- Availability for some weekend and after-hours work (weekday), including occasional regional travel
- A current Victorian driver licence
Key information
- Initial 2-month contract starting Monday 19 October until Friday 18 December 2026, with potential to extend
- Part time, 3 days per week, based in our Fitzroy office. Preferred working days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
- $65,000 FTE (pro rata, depending on experience) plus superannuation
- Interviews will be held Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October 2026
