What if your next career move gave you more time, more control and a greater share of the fees you generate?
We’re helping experienced solicitors in Brisbane explore self-employed consultant opportunities with established law firms.
Build your practice around the clients and work you enjoy, with a firm’s infrastructure behind you and business development support from The Self-Employed Lawyers League.
The opportunity
You’ll provide legal services within your area of expertise, manage your client relationships and develop your practice within an established firm.
This is a self-employed, fee-sharing opportunity.
Your earnings depend on the fees you generate and collect, rather than a capped salary.
We’ll help you explore suitable firms with a good reputation so you can understand their fee arrangements, support and expectations before you decide.
More control over how you practise
- Choose your workload around your availability and life commitments.
- Explore a mix of home and office working, subject to the firm and location.
- Develop your own portable client base within your chosen practice area.
- Retain an agreed % share of the fees collected from your work.
- Access the firm’s systems and agreed administrative, trust-accounting, compliance and skilled indemnity arrangements.
- No hefty start up costs so you can get going quickly.
The specific fee split, included services and any additional costs vary by firm and will be explained during the interview process.
Support to build your practice
Through The Self-Employed Lawyers League, explore support including:
- Business development training and coaching.
- A network of self-employed lawyers to build referral relationships.
- Practical courses, templates and resources.
- CPD webinars and live member sessions.
- Member benefits and supplier savings.
We’ll explain the SELL support available with each opportunity and any applicable membership terms.
Who we’d like to hear from
2+ year PQE solicitors who:
- Can confidently manage matters within their area of expertise.
- Take pride in client service and building lasting relationships.
- Want greater control over their workload and working week.
- Are willing to take an active role in developing their client base.
Your experience, practising certificate and any supervision requirements will help determine which firms are suitable.
Curious about whether it could work for you?
You don’t need to have your next move mapped out before starting a conversation.
Apply to explore the options, discuss your goals and find out whether consulting could suit you.
