About the role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in data migration, analysis, and transformation projects, with a strong background in Microsoft Fabric and business intelligence (BI) tools. This role involves ensuring the seamless migration of data between systems while maintaining data quality, integrity, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Data analysis and mapping
- Analyse source and target systems to understand data structures, relationships and business meaning.
- Profile source data to identify quality issues,
duplicates, gaps and inconsistencies.
- Create and maintain source-to-target mappings.
- Work with business stakeholders to define transformation and cleansing rules.
Migration support
- Write SQL queries to analyse data and test transformation logic.
- Work with data engineers to make sure transformation rules are implemented correctly in Fabric.
- Run and monitor migration loads and investigate failures or unexpected results.
- Support cutover activities, including readiness checks and post-cutover validation.
Testing, validation and reconciliation
- Plan and run pre- and post-migration testing.
- Reconcile source and target data using row counts, totals and field-level comparisons.
- Log, track and follow up data issues through to resolution, and escalate risks early.
- Build Power BI reports to track migration progress, data quality and reconciliation results.
Data quality and governance
- Help business owners decide how to handle data quality issues, such as cleansing, excluding or accepting them.
- Handle sensitive and personal information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and internal data governance policies.
- Support governance activities such as data definitions, ownership and classification.
Collaboration and documentation
- Act as the link between business stakeholders and the technical team on data requirements.
- Maintain clear documentation, covering mappings,
business rules, test results and issue logs.
- Provide regular status updates to the project team.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3-6 years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- Demonstrated experience in data migration or data analysis projects, including data profiling and source-to-target mapping.
- Strong SQL skills for analysing, validating and reconciling data.
- Experience building Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric or similar Microsoft data platforms (e.g. Azure Synapse, SQL Server).
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to investigating and resolving data issues.
- Excellent communication skills, including gathering requirements and explaining data issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Relevant Data/Business Analysis certifications.
