The Role

We're looking for a motivated and technically capable Engineer Dam Infrastructure to join us on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Dam Infrastructure Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe, compliant and efficient management of TasWater's dam infrastructure assets across Tasmania.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to dam safety engineering, asset performance, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives that help protect our communities, environment and critical infrastructure. Working closely with engineers, operators, specialists and external stakeholders, you'll help deliver engineering solutions that support both regulatory obligations and long-term asset outcomes.

As part of the team, you'll work across TasWater's diverse portfolio of 304 dams, including concrete weirs, earthen embankment dams, and concrete arch and buttress dams. Spread across some of Tasmania's most spectacular and remote locations, these assets offer a rare opportunity to blend engineering expertise with field-based work while helping safeguard critical water infrastructure for future generations.

In this role, you will:

- Deliver dam safety engineering support, solutions and improvements to achieve compliance and asset performance outcomes.
- Provide project management and technical oversight for dam infrastructure programs and improvement works.
- Monitor and analyse dam asset performance to support asset, workforce and community safety.
- Research,



analyse and report on engineering issues, developing practical and compliant solutions.
- Schedule and coordinate compliance, surveillance and inspection activities.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including reports, plans, specifications and business cases.
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including participation in dam safety emergency exercises.
- Build effective relationships with operational teams, contractors, consultants and industry stakeholders to achieve organisational outcomes.

What we're looking for

We're seeking an engineering professional who combines sound technical knowledge with solid problem-solving and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

- A degree in Engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience in dam safety asset management functions.
- A sound understanding of engineering concepts and principles relating to water and sewerage infrastructure.
- Strong engineering analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- The ability to interpret technical plans, drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in engineering software and computer-based systems.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- A current Class C driver's licence.

Highly regarded:

- Project management experience or qualifications.
- Full professional membership of a relevant engineering association.
- White Card (Work Safely in the Construction Industry).
- Knowledge of relevant Australian and international engineering standards, including ANCOLD Guidelines.

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary range of $113,918.64 - $120,247.46 per annum (inclusive of superannuation).

The position may require travel throughout Tasmania, site inspections, work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and participation in after-hours work or an on-call roster as required to support business operations.
