Employment Type: Permanent Full or Part Time, contract and or casual

Remuneration: from $66,976.41 per annum (pro rata)

Location: Various regional and rural locations

Hunter New England Health’s Enrolled Nurse Transition to Practice opportunities are designed to help you move from study into the workplace with the support, practical experience and professional development needed to build your confidence as an Enrolled Nurse.

You’ll join an experienced nursing team and receive support as you consolidate your knowledge, strengthen your clinical skills and adjust to the responsibilities of professional practice.

Your Transition to Practice

As an Enrolled Nurse, you’ll be a valued member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing safe, high-quality and patient-centred care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

During Your Transition, You’ll Have Opportunities To

- Consolidate the clinical skills developed during your Diploma of Nursing
- Build confidence in clinical decision-making, communication and time management
- Learn from experienced Enrolled Nurses, Registered Nurses, educators and other healthcare professionals
- Develop your understanding of local clinical practices, policies and models of care

- Reflect on your practice and identify goals for your ongoing development

Some locations may be eligible for incentives under the Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme. As part of the recruitment process, you’ll have the opportunity to nominate your preferred location. Appointments will be subject to position availability and service requirements.

Transition Support From Day One

Your transition from student to Enrolled Nurse is an significant stage of your career. From your first day, you’ll be welcomed into your facility and supported by your Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and experienced nursing colleagues.

The transition experience will vary between facilities according to local services and workforce arrangements.

At larger hospitals, including Armidale, Belmont, Maitland and Tamworth, support may include formal Transition to Practice arrangements such as structured rotations, dedicated education and targeted professional development.

At smaller rural and regional facilities, you’ll benefit from personalised support, hands-on learning and the opportunity to work closely with experienced, close-knit teams.

Depending on your placement, learning and development opportunities may include:

- Orientation and local clinical education
- Bedside learning and support from experienced nursing colleagues
- In-services, grand rounds and online learning
- Structured professional development activities
- Group reflective practice and peer-learning sessions
- Opportunities to discuss your progress and development needs
