Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our Engineering team at our head office in Scoresby.
Reporting to the Electronics Lead, you will design, develop, test and deploy robust electronics hardware and embedded firmware for general and emergency lighting products. Your work will support the reliability, performance, safety and regulatory compliance of Clevertronics products.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of firmware and hardware solutions specifically tailored for General/Emergency lighting applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Develop electronic hardware and firmware solutions with consideration for the overall product architecture, ensuring the electronic design supports the functional, performance, reliability and compliance objectives of the final product.
- Lead and manage all aspects of assigned projects related to general/emergency lighting, including planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of General/Emergency Lighting requirements, translating customer needs into technical specifications and design requirements.
- Develop comprehensive testing procedures for firmware and hardware components in General/emergency lighting systems. Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure reliability, robustness, and compliance with quality standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and technology advancements in General/Emergency lighting development. Implement best practices to enhance product quality and performance.Designing products with consideration for EMC compatibility, electrical safety and applicable regulatory standards.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in collaboration with Engineering and Production Support teams.
- Maintaining accurate documentation, including hardware designs, firmware information, test plans and project milestones.
- Preparing progress and outcome reports for relevant stakeholders.
- Staying informed about industry trends, standards and regulatory requirements relating to general and emergency lighting.
- Supporting Clevertronics quality and environmental management systems, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Electronics Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong power electronics knowledge, including SMPS, inverters, battery chargers and LED drivers.
- A solid understanding of Power Factor Correction and Harmonics Suppression.
- Knowledge of EMC compatibility and electrical safety requirements.
- Practical PCB layout experience.
- Embedded C firmware development experience, such as Microchip PIC XC8.
- Experience managing project schedules and using project management tools such as Jira, Teamwork or Microsoft Project.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a hands‑on approach.
- The ability to work effectively within a team and meet strict deadlines.
