About AVSTEV GROUP
AVSTEV GROUP is an Australian distributor of fine watches and jewellery, based in Bondi Junction, Sydney.
Role purpose The Finance Manager owns the full financial management of the AVSTEV GROUP entity, from daily transaction processing through to month-end reporting and statutory lodgements.
The role gives Management accurate, timely financial and sales information to run the business. It also covers payroll, HR administration and the day-to-day running of the office, so it suits a hands-on finance skilled who is comfortable working across a small team.
Key responsibilities
Financial management and reporting
- Full financial management of the AVSTEV GROUP entity.
- Compile monthly reports, including profit & loss and balance sheet.
- Produce and maintain month-end reports.
- Prepare cash flow reporting.
- Prepare budget comparisons and reporting.
- Prepare sales analysis reports.
- Produce financial and sales reports as requested by Management.
Accounting and reconciliations
- Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Complete bank reconciliations.
- Coordinate Forward Exchange Contracts.
- Prepare and manage marketing claims.
Statutory compliance
- Prepare and lodge statutory requirements, including BAS, IAS, payroll tax and superannuation.
Payroll, HR and office management
- Process monthly payroll.
- Carry out HR duties and office management,
coordinating with administration on day-to-day operations.
Customer contracts and company policy
- Coordinate customer contracts.
- Understand and follow company rules and regulations.
Operations support
- Perform all other duties as assigned and required, including inventory, purchase orders, sales orders and invoicing.
Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance; CPA or CA qualified, or working towards it.
- At least five years in a hands-on, full-function finance role, ideally in wholesale, distribution or retail.
- Sound working knowledge of Australian statutory requirements: BAS, IAS, payroll tax and superannuation.
- Experience processing payroll end to end.
- Experience with foreign currency purchasing and Forward Exchange Contracts.
- Understanding of inventory accounting and the order-to-invoice cycle.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence with accounting software.
- High attention to detail and a record of meeting month-end and lodgement deadlines.
- Discretion with confidential financial, payroll and staff information.
- Clear communicator who works well in a small team and is willing to step in where needed.
Key working relationships
- Internal: Managing Director, administration, sales and after-sales teams.
- External: customers, brand partners and suppliers, banks, external accountants and the ATO.
