Health and Safety Advisor - Major Infrastructure
About the Employer
Our client is an engineering and construction business working across transport, defence and major infrastructure. It combines project delivery expertise with a focus on collaboration, technical improvement and sustainable outcomes.
The Opportunity
Provide hands-on safety advice during complex infrastructure construction in Sydney. Working with site leaders, engineers and subcontractors, you will strengthen daily risk controls and help teams meet project safety plans and NSW requirements.
Your Responsibilities
- Coach supervisors, engineers and frontline workers in safe construction practices.
- Inspect sites, assess risks and conduct targeted safety audits.
- Deliver inductions, toolbox discussions and pre-start briefings.
- Review secure work method statements for high-risk activities, including plant operations and work at height.
- Investigate incidents, identify causes and monitor corrective actions to closure.
- Maintain incident registers and reporting metrics and use trends to guide improvements.
Requirements
Skills, Education and Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
- At least five years of practical WHS experience in civil construction, tunnelling,
rail or major infrastructure.
- Knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- Formal incident investigation training; ICAM is highly regarded.
- White Card and current NSW driver licence.
- Strong communication and negotiation with the ability to influence site teams and hold stakeholders accountable.
- Current entitlement to live and work in the role location.
