ABOUT SHELBY
Shelby Van Zwol runs multiple businesses, which means her days are full long before she walks back through the front door. Together with her husband she's raising their five-year-old daughter Aspen alongside Pixie, the family pug who very much considers herself a member of the household.
It's a busy, happy home with a lot going on. What Shelby needs is someone who can help keep the home and family on track and on schedule, so everyone gets more time to enjoy it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a part-time, 4-day-a-week role at the centre of a busy family home. Your job is to help keep the household and the family on track and on schedule, so the days run smoothly and nothing slips through the cracks. Over time, it becomes less about working from a list and more about knowing the rhythm of the house and staying a step ahead.
- Household organisation and upkeep: You'll keep the home calm, clean and organised with regular tidying, resets and cleaning across the kitchen, floors, surfaces and beds. That includes laundry and linen changes, keeping wardrobes, drawers, the pantry and storage in order and restocking essentials before they run out.
- Groceries and food: You'll look after the grocery shopping and online orders and keep the fridge and pantry stocked with the family's staples. You'll also do regular clean-outs, keep an eye on expiry dates and do some light food prep, from fruit and veg to snacks and school lunch components.
- Errands and life admin: You'll take care of the everyday errands that eat into a busy week, such as parcels, returns, dry cleaning, alterations and click and collect. You'll also organise gifts, cards and flowers, book and coordinate trades and appointments and be home to meet them when needed.
- Family support: You'll help keep Aspen's school things, uniforms,
bags and activities organised and ready to go. You'll also cover birthday gifts and general family logistics, plus daily walks and vet visits for Pixie the pug.
- Travel and lifestyle: You'll help the family prepare and pack for trips, then unpack and reset the home when everyone gets back. Toiletries, travel products and household supplies will always be topped up and ready.
- Keeping everything on track: You'll stay across the family's week so the home and schedule run smoothly and on time. You'll spot what needs doing before you're asked, take ownership of getting it sorted and flag anything that needs repairing, replacing or planning ahead.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Success is a home where the detergent never runs out, the overflowing cupboard gets reset before it becomes a problem, and you've spotted something is needed for school next week before anyone else has.
ABOUT YOU
You're the person who notices. The loose handle, the nearly empty shampoo, the drawer that's slowly losing the plot. You'd rather sort it than mention it, though you also know when something is worth flagging early.
You're organised, reliable and calm when the week changes shape. You take pride in a home that feels valuable to live in and you're happy being hands-on rather than managing from a distance. You love kids, and they naturally warm to you. Experience in a private household, family assistant or similar role will help you hit the ground running.
A valid driver's licence and your own car, a Working With Children Check and a Police Check are essential.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
Four days a week with one family who will value what you bring. A long-term role built on trust, with more autonomy as you learn the rhythm of the household. It's personal, it's varied and you'll see the difference you make every single day.
