Primary Role The Balmain Group has over $10B in receivables under management, including a commercial loan portfolio exceeding $5.5B and provides $4B in property investment and development loans each year. Loans range in size between $1M to in excess of $100M for a range of purposes including investment, construction and site acquisition. Structured/preferred equity transactions also form part of the business appetite.
The Settlements & Credit Analyst supports the assessment, approval, documentation and settlement of commercial real estate loans. Working closely with the Credit Manager and wider Credit team, the role assists with financial and credit analysis, preparation of credit submissions and investor reporting, loan structuring and documentation, and the coordination of settlement requirements.
The role also liaises with borrowers, solicitors, consultants, Finance and other key stakeholders to ensure that all documentation, conditions precedent and funding requirements are completed accurately and efficiently. Through this combined focus, the Settlements & Credit Analyst supports the effective management of credit risk and the timely progression of loan transactions from initial assessment through to submission for funding approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Structure and draft offer letters and term sheets in conjunction with Senior Credit Managers.
- Instruction of solicitors to prepare loan documentation and review documentation when completed.
- Work closely with solicitors and key stakeholders to ensure loans progress towards settlement and all required documentation and conditions are held.
- Prepare drawdown notices and liaise with the Finance team in the call for funds for settlements.
- Record details of loan security and terms for communication to our Loans Servicing Team.
- Manage Loan Discharges with panel solicitors and maintain the sell down schedule.
- Preparation of draft credit risk and investor reports for Credit Manager review.
- Assist in the settlement process of commercial loans (under direction of Credit Manager).
- Recommend settlement payments.
- Undertake financial analysis (financial statements and project feasibilities) and credit worthiness for loan applications.
- Assist Credit Manager and Senior Credit Manager review of Credit Submissions and provide analysis of loan opportunities
Competency / Job Skill Attributes / Requirements
- Desire to develop experience in real estate specific banking and finance roles.
- Role would suit recent Property Economics or Valuation graduate.
- Ability to assist Credit and Senior Credit Managers with review and structure of commercial development and investment loans from initial origination stage to financial close
