28Watt is a fintech currently focused on renewable energy. Our digital platform matches homeowners with the lowest rate loan for their renewable energy purchase, then gets them the funds, rapid. Homeowners come to us through our network of over 1,000 solar and battery sales reps.

As 28Watt's Lead Product Engineer, you'll find the problems worth solving across our business, decide what to build, and build it. You'll report to Robin Stam, co-founder, and lead our 2 developers.

You'll work directly with sales, operations, credit, loan processing and our installer partners, taking problems from first conversation to shipped software. Your biggest job is building a fully autonomous back office that supports our sales team. Alongside that, you'll build the full-stack features installers and homeowners use every day, and the lender integrations that get loans funded.

AI is central to how you work as well as what you ship. The role is designed so one person with the right tools can do what used to take a team.

What you'll build

- A fully autonomous back office: multi-agent systems on Claude Managed Agents that collect documents, assess applications, chase follow-ups and keep every deal moving for our sales team
- The installer portal our partners use to refer customers and track their loans
- The customer application flow, from eligibility check to funding
- Lender integrations and our HubSpot sync

Keys to success in this role

- Full-stack engineering with a shipping record: 5+ years of software engineering, and you've shipped real products that customers use.
- An AI-native way of working: Claude Code, n8n and other AI and automation tools are the core of your workflow, and you keep experimenting to get more out of them. You can turn an idea into something users can click on in hours or days.
- Agents in production:



hands-on experience building with LLM APIs, agents, MCP and multi-agent orchestration.
- Product judgment: you ask why before deciding how. You define requirements, set scope, make UX and product trade-offs, and decide when something's ready to ship.
- Turning ambiguity into working software: problems reach you loosely defined. You dig in, work out what's actually needed, and build something that works.
- Leading a small team: code review, standards, and getting the best out of 2 developers.
- Clear communication and measurable results: you explain trade-offs plainly to non-technical teammates and in depth to engineers, and you use data and user feedback to show whether what you built solved the problem.
- Founder, early-startup or fintech experience is a plus, and so are examples where AI let you do what previously took several people.

What you'll work with

You'll need hands-on experience with React, Node.js, REST APIs, and SQL with relational databases. Those are the core of what you'll touch every day.

Our stack: React and Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS (EC2, S3, Aurora), Firebase, GitHub, HubSpot, n8n, Claude Code and the Claude Platform, including Claude Managed Agents. If you haven't used some of these, you'll pick them up as you go.
