What you'll be doing in this role

As a valued member of our team, you'll provide compassionate care and support to residents, helping them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life. This role is based in a dedicated high care dementia community, supporting residents with complex care and behavioural needs. You'll use your experience, empathy and professional judgement to provide person-centred care, helping residents feel safe, valued and connected every day.

You will

- Provide personal care including showering, dressing, grooming and mobility support.
- Assist residents during mealtimes and with activities of daily living.
- Support medication assistance and simple wound care where required.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and provide emotional support and companionship.
- Support residents living with dementia using person-centred approaches that promote dignity, wellbeing and quality of life.
- Respond calmly and confidently to changing behaviours and care needs, using effective communication and de-escalation techniques.
- Encourage participation in social and recreational activities.
- Work closely with the leadership team to identify opportunities for service improvement.
- Promote best practice documentation and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting best practice, sharing knowledge and helping maintain consistently high standards of care.

Who we're looking for

You're an experienced aged care professional who communicates with confidence, builds rapport easily and enjoys working collaboratively with others. You are passionate about delivering person-centred care and understand the importance of creating meaningful moments for people living with dementia. You remain calm under pressure, adapt to changing situations and are committed to providing high-quality care that makes a genuine difference in residents' lives.

- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Individual Support, or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated experience supporting residents living with dementia in a residential aged care setting, with the confidence and resilience to provide care in a high-care environment.
- Confidence working in a high care dementia environment, with the ability to build trust, respond positively to behaviours of concern and support residents with compassion and respect.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,



with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
- Confident collaborating across teams and supporting positive outcomes through professional communication and a solutions-focused approach.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Well-organised and able to manage competing priorities in a busy workplace.
- A proactive mindset, with the confidence to share ideas, support best practice and contribute positively to team outcomes.
- Adaptable, empathetic and resourceful, living Uniting's values of being compassionate, respectful, imaginative and bold.
