- Bring your leadership experience to a career in rail
- Permanent opportunity within our Newcastle Maintenance team
- Coordinate people, priorities and day-to-day maintenance activities
An opportunity has become available for a Maintenance Coordinator to join our Newcastle Maintenance facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Maintainers on shift, ensuring Rollingstock maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with our technical standards and procedures. This is a outstanding opportunity for someone with leadership, supervisory or coordination experience who is ready for their next career move. You don’t need to come from a rail background. We’re open to people who have developed their leadership experience within aviation, heavy industry, corporate or other operational environments and are interested in building a career in rail.
This is a rotating roster position covering days and weekends, supporting the delivery of scheduled maintenance, inspections, out-of-course repairs and urgent recovery tasks across the rail network.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure the safe and efficient day-to-day coordination of rollingstock maintenance activities
- Coordinate task allocation and set work priorities for Maintainers on each shift
- Ensure wagon maintenance is completed in line with technical standards, practices and procedures
- Coordinate resources to support rollingstock availability and reliability targets
- Prepare maintenance documentation and assist with planning for modification programs
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to support the timely movement, placement and clearing of rollingstock
- Support incident response activities and ensure contractor compliance where required
What You’ll Bring We’re looking for someone who can lead and coordinate people,
manage competing priorities and confidently take ownership of day-to-day activities.
- Previous experience in a supervisory, team leadership or coordination role, ideally gained within aviation, heavy industry, corporate or another operational environment
- Strong people leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to allocate work and manage changing priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and sound problem-solving skills
- The confidence to make decisions and take ownership in a busy environment
- A solid commitment to safety and working within established procedures and standards
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team
- Confidence using computerised systems and the ability to learn maintenance and asset management systems
- C Class Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Forklift and HR licences are desirable
Previous rail or wagon maintenance experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. We’re interested in the leadership and coordination skills you can bring to the role, along with your ability to learn and adapt to a rail maintenance environment. Why join us?
