This role sits within the engineering team and supports the company's expansion across Australia and
New Zealand. The Mechanical Engineer splits their time between site work, layout design and technical data work, and will be the main engineering point of contact for new installations as the business grows in the region.
Day to day, this means visiting customer sites to check them against engineering and operational requirements, building layouts in CAD for new installations, and pulling together the technical and site data needed to work out whether a location will work from an equipment and capacity standpoint.
It's a hands-on engineering role — most decisions come down to engineering judgement, whether that's on site, at the design stage, or when working through the data behind a new location.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Field Engineering & Site Assessment
▪ Assess new and existing sites across Australia and New Zealand to check suitability and flag any engineering or operational issues.
▪ Carry out site visits for inspections, measurements and technical checks, both before and during equipment installation.
▪ Troubleshoot technical issues on site during installation and commissioning.
▪ Work alongside contractors, suppliers and site teams to keep installations on spec, on standard and safe.
- Layout & Installation Engineering
▪ Build technical layouts for new installations in CAD, working through equipment positioning, workflow and space requirements.
▪ Apply mechanical engineering principles to each layout so it holds up against equipment specs, safety requirements and operational standards.
▪ Put together the drawings and technical documentation the installation and construction teams need to do the work.
▪ Go back and rework layouts when something on site doesn't match the original plan.
- Engineering Data Analysis for Site Development
▪ Work through technical, site and operational data to figure out whether a recent location stacks up and put together engineering recommendations off the back of it.
▪ Maintain data models and reporting that the team uses for site capacity planning and layout standardisation.
▪ Turn technical and site data into recommendations and reports that leadership can act on.
▪ Feed engineering considerations — layout, capacity, compliance — into feasibility studies alongside the site and operational data.
- Project & Stakeholder Coordination
▪ Help plan and deliver new site rollouts, keeping engineering and field timelines lined up with the rest of the team.
▪ Stay in contact with contractors, landlords and local authorities to keep new installations moving.
▪ Keep leadership updated on the technical status, risks and progress of installation
