Role Description This is an on-site, contract role for a Paediatric Speech Pathologist based in Cleveland, QLD.

The Paediatric Speech

Pathologist will assess, diagnose, and manage speech, language, and communication disorders in children and young people, using evidence-based tools and approaches. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, delivering therapy sessions, and collaborating with families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to support goals and progress. The role also includes documenting clinical findings, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to patient education and peer support initiatives aligned with the organization’s patient-centered values.

The Paediatric Speech

Pathologist will participate in case discussions, support care coordination, and advocate for accessible, inclusive communication strategies in clinical and community settings.





Qualifications

- Formal qualifications in Speech Pathology and current registration (or eligibility for registration) with relevant professional and regulatory bodies in Australia.
- Demonstrated experience in paediatric speech, language, and communication assessment and intervention, including working with diverse developmental and medical conditions.
- Strong skills in family-centered practice, including the ability to collaborate with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain clinical information clearly and sensitively to children and adults.
- Competence in clinical documentation, case note writing, and maintaining accurate, confidential records in line with professional standards.
- Ability to work independently on-site, manage a clinical caseload, and adapt interventions to meet individual needs and cultural backgrounds.
- Commitment to patient-driven care, peer support, and shared decision-making, with a respectful, inclusive, and non-judgmental approach.
- Experience in community or outpatient healthcare settings is beneficial; prior work in multidisciplinary or allied health teams is an advantage.
- Ongoing engagement in career development, familiarity with evidence-based practice, and openness to reflective practice and supervision.
- Current Working With Children Check and other relevant clearances required for paediatric clinical work.
