The purpose of the Principal Policy Advisor role is to work collaboratively with FIS’s internal and external stakeholders in the provision of high-quality advisory and support services to Queensland Health leadership. This role will lead and co-ordinate key strategic policy projects and operational activities that relate to core functions of FIS and priorities for Queensland Health.

Your key responsibilities:

- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic policy projects, including the development of Queensland Health's annual Budget submission and Budget papers.
- Undertake analysis of trends in health expenditure, funding and health service performance, and identify opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Undertake project management activities to ensure projects are on track and meeting milestones and timeframes.
- Co-ordinate and manage information and data requests from across Queensland Health under tight timeframes for strategic projects such as the annual Budget papers.

How you will be assessed

The essential requirements for this role are:

- Proven success in the design and delivery of strategic policy initiatives within a complex and sensitive service delivery environment.
- Demonstrated record of achievement in providing accurate and effective advice to support senior stakeholders to represent the Department on sensitive operational issues and strategic policy priorities.
- Excellent understanding, or the ability to quickly acquire an excellent understanding, of health system funding and policy frameworks.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timeframes and manage staff and resources to achieve deliverables. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write high quality, concise reports,



briefs and correspondence that are tailored to the level of knowledge, skill and experience of the audience.
