The Director Corporate Services is a senior Executive position responsible for the leadership, performance and governance of YDHS's corporate functions.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and operating as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director provides strategic and operational leadership across:
Finance and financial management;
Human Resources;
Corporate governance;
Enterprise risk and compliance;
Procurement and contract management;
Corporate quality and assurance;
Information and communications technology governance;
Corporate administration;
Asset, property and facilities governance; and
Other corporate functions allocated by the Chief Executive Officer.
The Director will provide high-quality advice and assurance to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board, ensuring effective governance, accountability and sustainable organisational performance.
A key expectation of the role is ownership and accountability. The successful candidate will identify emerging risks, provide practical solutions, drive improvement and ensure matters within the Corporate Services Directorate are effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director Corporate Services will:
Contribute to the strategic direction, performance and long-term sustainability of YDHS.
Provide authoritative and evidence-based advice to the CEO.
Participate in whole-of-organisation decision-making and Executive governance.
Translate Board and Executive decisions into effective operational action.
Lead a high-performing, accountable and service-focused Corporate Services Directorate.
Maintain an organisation-wide perspective rather than advocating solely for individual corporate functions.
Work collaboratively with clinical and operational leaders.
Identify emerging organisational risks and opportunities and act early.
Lead organisational change and corporate improvement initiatives.
Build management capability and accountability throughout the Directorate.
Deputise or undertake broader Executive responsibilities when requested by the CEO.
Demonstrate leadership consistent with YDHS values and Victorian public sector standards.
Finance and Financial Management
Lead financial management, planning and reporting across YDHS.
Oversee budgets, forecasts, financial sustainability and performance monitoring.
Ensure effective financial controls,
delegations, reconciliations and assurance processes.
Provide clear financial advice and reporting to Executive, Board and Committees.
Oversee financial audits, capital expenditure and statutory financial requirements.
Human Resources
Provide executive oversight of workforce strategy and HR operations.
Lead workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations and workforce reporting.
Ensure effective employment practices, payroll governance and compliance.
Support workforce capability, retention, succession planning and employee engagement.
Provide advice regarding industrial relations, workplace matters and employment risk.
Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance
Maintain and enhance corporate governance, risk and assurance frameworks.
Ensure organisational risks, controls and treatment plans are effectively managed.
Coordinate audit activities and monitor completion of improvement actions.
Support statutory reporting, compliance obligations and Board assurance processes.
Promote governance practices embedded within everyday operations.
Board, Procurement and Corporate Operations
Support effective Board and Committee governance processes.
Ensure high-quality reporting, documentation and monitoring of Board actions.
Oversee procurement frameworks, contract management and supplier performance.
Provide governance oversight of ICT, cybersecurity, information management and business continuity.
Support effective management of assets, property, facilities and infrastructure where allocated.
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Significant senior management or executive leadership experience in a complex organisation.
Experience leading multidisciplinary corporate functions.
Strong financial, commercial and strategic capability.
Demonstrated understanding of governance, risk management, compliance and assurance.
Contemporary knowledge of human resources, industrial relations and workforce management.
Experience providing advice to senior executives,
Boards and committees.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building capability.
High levels of integrity, judgement and qualified accountability.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, business, commerce, management, human resources, governance or related discipline.
Demonstrated experience leading corporate services functions at a senior level.
Executive leadership experience within health, aged care or the Victorian public sector.
Postgraduate qualifications in business, management, finance or governance.
CPA, CA, AICD, AHRI or other relevant professional membership.
Experience working within Victorian Government, health sector or rural/regional environments.
