Sedgman is proud to offer the position of Principal Metallurgy Consultant to join our team in Brisbane and involves leading and developing the process team, and serving as an authority on froth flotation projects for copper, gold and base metal projects globally. Deliver projects from concept through to detailed design with technical and economic input from multi-discipline teams. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding and appreciation for utilising the results from laboratory mineralogy analysis and metallurgical testing for maximising mineral recovery and energy efficiency in full-scale flowsheet development and design.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead technical studies on flotation and mining value chain optimisation projects.
- Technical leadership for developing testwork programs,



interpretation of testwork results and process mineralogy for maximising mineral recovery efficient flowsheet development and design.
- Provide leadership in flotation equipment sizing, layout and flowsheet engineering.
- Provide froth flotation expertise across multiple projects, drive quality delivery and innovation, shape technical strategy with accountability for technical integrity, risk, standards and safety. Proactively pursue coarse particle flotation and high-intensity froth flotation technologies for proving up and full-scale implementation.
- Continuous improvement of standards, tools, processes and guidelines for the mechanical engineering discipline to improve efficiency and technical outcomes.
- Assist with the review and coordination of the team’s project allocations to align with project requirements and the individuals’ skills, experience and development needs.
- Provide effective leadership, coaching and mentoring to support and develop the team.
- Actively collaborate and influence others through positive behaviours and demonstrating our Values in Action.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

- Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical/ Metallurgy)
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in a design/consultancy environment in a chemical/ wet mechanical engineering capacity working on multi-discipline engineering projects.




- Extensive experience across base metals minerals processing facilities, including ore handling, comminution, classification, mineral separation, product dewatering, tailings and water management systems, with the ability to provide technical authority across integrated plant design.
- Ability to solve complex problems.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues or escalate as required.
- Detailed experience with engineering tools and software.
- Skilled in simulation packages such as MetSim, JKSimMet, IES, JKSimFloat is highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in a similar leadership role.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal.
