Regional Investment Corporation - Chair and Board member Appointments
Contribute to the future resilience of Australian agriculture.
Applications are invited from experienced board directors and senior professionals with expertise relevant to the work of the Regional Investment Corporation (RIC) for appointment as the Chair or as a Board member.
The RIC supports Australian agriculture by providing concessional loans to long-term viable farm businesses and farm-related small businesses in financial need due to drought and other challenges. Since its establishment in 2018, the RIC has settled more than 3,600 loans valued at $3.8 billion.
The RIC is entering an exciting phase. An additional $1 billion in Australian Government loan funding is being rolled out, alongside a commitment to broaden the RIC’s role in improving climate resilience, boosting sector productivity and supporting agriculture’s transition towards net zero.
Applications are invited for one Chair and up to four Board member positions.
Board members, including the Chair, are required under section 17 of the Regional Investment Corporation Act 2018 to have appropriate qualifications, skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- agribusiness and the financial viability of businesses within the agricultural sector
- banking and finance
- issues concerning rural industries and communities
- economics
- financial accounting or auditing
- government funding programs or bodies
- law
- drought resilience
- expertise in an area relevant to a program prescribed by the rules under subsection 8(5).
In addition,
expertise in climate resilience, emissions reduction, transition to net zero and/or sustainability, particularly in the agriculture sector; agricultural productivity and innovation; working with First Nations people and businesses, including agribusinesses; farm business succession; wild-catch fisheries and aquaculture industries; and senior Commonwealth public service experience, would also be highly regarded.
Candidates should also demonstrate high-level leadership and vision, sound judgement, integrity and governance capability, an understanding of government, and the ability to contribute effectively to the strategic direction and oversight of the RIC.
The Chair will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Board and organisation, promote strong governance and lead the Board’s consultation and engagement with government and industry.
These appointments offer an prospect to contribute to the resilience, productivity and long-term sustainability of Australian agriculture.
