Want to work on real legged robots while you study?
Prenten Robotics is a Sydney robotics startup. We use quadruped robots to inspect industrial sites, turning LiDAR, camera and IMU data into accurate 3D models. We're moving the robot from remote-controlled capture to semi-autonomous, mission-based operation, and we want a student to help build it.
You'll work with our CTO on mission execution for our Unitree quadruped: route following, movement safety behaviours, capture experiments and the SLAM and 3D reconstruction pipeline. You'll test in simulation and then on the robot.
We also run Prenten Pathfinders, where high school students program the same robot. Part of your week is in a Sydney school as the person who knows the robot. You'll deliver short coursework segments, run the robot demonstration and guide student crews. We provide all the materials and full training, and a teacher is in the room for every session.
The details
- Paid casual,
about 10 hours a week (negotiable), with scope to grow
- One weekly school session in person (early afternoon, alternating Wednesdays and Fridays) plus remote or hybrid robotics work
- Starting as soon as possible
You'll need
- To be studying robotics, mechatronics, computer science, engineering or a related field
- Python skills and a grasp of robotics basics
- Confidence explaining technical ideas to teenagers
- A driver's licence and your own car (you'll bring the robot from our North Shore base)
- A NSW Working with Children Check, or willingness to apply now (it's quick)
ROS 2, C++, SLAM or time on a legged robot is a bonus. To apply: send your CV and a few lines on a robotics project you've worked on to
