Your Next Role

Reporting to the Manager Safety Facilities and Security, you will work closely with senior leaders and the operations teams to influence and strengthen our safety culture. Your responsibilities will include:

Safety:

- Support the development of the health and safety culture where all staff are aware of and actively participate in safety initiatives.
- Promote health and safety policies and ensure adherence by employees liaising where necessary with external agencies/regulators and industry groups
- Act as Lead on Fire safety for the site, taking on role of Chief Fire Warden
- Assist with rehabilitation and return-to-work process and oversee suitable duties programs with respective managers and HR.
- Develop and maintain Health & Safety Management system.

Training:

- Manage training courses or new and existing employees as they relate to health and safety policies and regulatory training/assessment requirements.
- Co-ordinate toolbox talk material in conjunction with Production Supervisor and Manager Operations & Engineering.

Compliance:

- Undertake risk assessments and hazard identification to ensure the site remains compliant and risks are identified and managed.

Reporting:

- Assist the Safety Manager with the safety reporting scheme and occurrence reporting systems including initiation of reporting, investigation and resolution/mitigation.

Auditing:

- Participate in EHS audits (both internal and external) including preparation, resolution of non-compliance and review of observations.

Facilities Management

- Assist in the implementation of environmental strategies, for example, strategies for sustainable development, resource conservation, and waste reduction that align with corporate objectives.
- Take ownership of facilities management including development of a preventative maintenance schedule.




- Liaise with and manage external contractors to provide services.
- Raise facilities management safety issues to the General Manager for decision and resolution in a timely manner.
- Promptly respond to maintenance requests and coordinate purchase orders with stakeholders
- Develop and maintain maintenance register

Security Management

- Take ownership of site security issues, including but not limited to employee security, site security and management of security events in liaison with the General Manager and Manager Human Resources.

Other duties:

- Actively participating and assisting in coordinating Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying process efficiencies and supporting implementation

Your Qualifications Experience and Skills include:

Essential:

Certificate IV Workplace Health & Safety / Environmental

Minimum 5 years EHS Manager experience

Strong communication skills

Highly proficient in internet-based programs – word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook and electronic safety systems.

Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, emergency response, ergonomics and workers compensation

Knowledge of HVAC systems, compressor systems and other facility support functions

Current First Aid, CPR

High level understanding, and implementation of safety plans with the ability to review and implement changes

Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (locally and internationally)





Ability to work autonomously and with little direction

Desirable:

Solid working knowledge of Incident investigation e.g., ICAM/TAPROOT

Auditing experience

Fire Safety qualification

Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessing

Intermediate knowledge of Industrial Hygiene programs

Aviation industry experience

Basic knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Protection Act and regulations
