About The Role

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Scientific or Technical Officer to join our friendly team based in the Lingard Private Hospital. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, this multi-faceted role will involve the accurate and efficient testing of specimens, quality assurance and instrumentation, as well as other ad-hoc duties as required. This is a hospital stat lab and experience in Transfusion, Haematology, Biochemistry.

- Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing
- Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis
- Assisting with Stock Control
- Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
- Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
- Maintaining current scientific knowledge
- Participating in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required




- Participating in training staff
- Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
- Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.

About You To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
- An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage and thrive in a busy setting
- Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to provide evidence of immunisation requirements including Hepatitis B
- Australian driver's license and own transport
