Enerven delivers electrical infrastructure and telecommunications solutions that are vital to connecting communities across Australia. Our design, construction, and maintenance services ensure reliable power generation, transmission, and distribution to homes and businesses nationwide – and our commitment to renewable energy and resilient grid infrastructure sets us apart.

The expertise and dedication of our people spans the entire electricity network, so careers at Enerven are defined by meaningful contributions and impactful work.

At Enerven, we’re connecting you with tomorrow.

About the role The Senior Civil Estimator reports to the Senior Bid Manager and is the technical authority for civil estimating across Enerven's tender portfolio. You will own the civil cost position on major EPC and construct-only bids across renewables, BESS, wind farm EBOP, substations, and transmission lines. You will build estimates from first principles and test the assumptions behind them, drawing on civil knowledge and experience to provide a sound, well-reasoned cost position that reflects the risk involved.

This is a senior, commercially focused role. Your technical judgement will directly shape how competitive and profitable our bids are, and you'll help lift estimating capability across the team. This role is flexible to be based in Adelaide, Sydney, or Brisbane.

What you'll do

- Lead civil estimates for major renewables and HV projects, built from first principles: quantities, productivity rates, crew and plant build-ups, and methodology
- Review and interpret EPC tender documents, including scope, specifications, geotechnical data, design basis, and contract terms, to find gaps, ambiguities and cost drivers early
- Identify, quantify and price civil risk and opportunity, including ground conditions, weather, access, spoil and water management, and design development, and set appropriate contingency
- Develop constructability-led alternatives and value-engineering options that lower cost without compromising compliance
- Review civil estimates for technical accuracy, consistency and completeness, and make sure assumptions, exclusions and qualifications are clearly documented
- Work closely with engineering, design, construction and project delivery teams so estimates reflect realistic methodology and can be delivered

- Compile Sub-contractor RFQ documentation, negotiate and assess subcontractor and supplier pricing, normalising quotes to check scope coverage and competitiveness
- Contribute to tender strategy, bid reviews and handover to delivery, and explain the civil cost position clearly to senior stakeholders
- Improve estimating processes, benchmarks and master data, and use lessons learned from delivered projects to make future estimates more accurate
- Mentor and support other estimators to build technical depth across the team

About you

You're an experienced civil estimator with deep technical knowledge of civil works in an EPC workplace. You know how civil scope, design maturity, methodology and contract risk come together in a tender price, and you have the confidence to challenge assumptions and stand behind your numbers.

- Extensive experience estimating civil works for EPC or D&C; tenders, ideally in renewables, BESS, wind, substations, transmission or similar heavy civil and infrastructure projects
- Strong first-principles estimating capability across bulk earthworks, foundations and piling, concrete, drainage, roads and hardstands, trenching and conduits, and temporary works
- Solid understanding of the full tender lifecycle, including bid strategy, risk and opportunity assessment, contingency, qualifications, and commercial review
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and geotechnical reports, and turn them into accurate quantities and methodology
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and contract forms (e.g. AS 4000, AS 4902)
- Advanced negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the credibility to influence engineering, delivery and leadership teams
- Highly developed commercial and financial acumen, with strong reporting and risk management capability
- An Advanced Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field, and/or extensive practical civil construction and estimating experience
