Senior Legal Assistant – Transport Accident/Personal Injury Law

This is an on-site Senior Legal Assistant role based in the Melbourne CBD.

Burt & Davies, Victoria’s leading transport accident lawyers, are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Legal Assistant with strong paralegal and typing skills to support our busy team. Play a key role in the efficient operation of this busy practice. The successful candidate will possess a strong combination of legal assistant, paralegal and advanced typing skills, together with a proactive and client-focused approach.

Role Description The Senior Legal Assistant will support and work closely with senior plaintiff lawyers and accredited specialists on TAC files from commencement through to resolution, providing legal administrative and paralegal support. You will be involved in preparing and managing legal documents, maintaining accurate files and coordinating case-related correspondence.

Responsibilities will include liaising with clients, medical providers and external stakeholders, organizing appointments and court dates and assisting lawyers with case preparation, evidence gathering, brief compilation and discovery processes. The role involves drafting routine communications, managing incoming inquiries and ensuring that deadlines and compliance requirements are met. You will contribute to a client-focused environment by providing timely, skilled administrative support and helping streamline workflows across the practice.





The successful candidate will be organised and proactive, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

· File management

· Preparing legal correspondence, court documents, briefs and other legal documentation

· Preparing protocols applications, pleadings and settlement documentation

· Liaising with clients, counsel, medical practitioners, experts, the TAC, insurers and courts

· Requesting medical records and expert reports

· Arranging medicolegal consultations

. Arranging meetings, conferences and mediations

· Managing diary appointments, critical dates and limitation periods

· Conducting legal and factual research as required

· Maintaining electronic and physical file records

Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will possess:

· A strong foundation in law and demonstrated experience in a personal injury or plaintiff-focused legal environment with minimum 5 years' experience as a legal assistant or paralegal

· Excellent knowledge of TAC/transport accident law, the TAC protocols and County and Supreme Court procedures

· Passion for achieving excellent client outcomes and ensuring client satisfaction

· Excellent typing skills with a high degree of accuracy

· Experience with digital dictation and transcription

· Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills





· Strong written and verbal communication abilities with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders

. Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting and managing court and

TAC related documentation

. Solid administrative assistance capabilities including file management, scheduling and data entry

· Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities, whilst showing initiative

. High level of attention to detail, organization and time management

. Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe and legal practice management software

· A professional, empathetic and client-focused approach

. Willingness to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment
