In this influential Line 1 Risk role, you'll partner closely with Investment leaders to strengthen risk management practices, operational resilience and governance across a complex investment environment. You'll lead strategic risk initiatives, embed risk into business decision-making and help drive a strong risk culture that supports sustainable outcomes for our members.

As a Senior Risk Specialist - Investments, you'll operate as a key member of the Line 1 Risk function within Investments, providing specialist risk expertise across investment activities, business change initiatives and strategic programs.

You'll help strengthen investment risk frameworks, operational resilience, governance and controls while partnering with senior stakeholders to support sound decision-making and sustainable member outcomes.

Working closely with Investment teams, Investment Operations, Group Risk and Compliance, and Internal Audit, you'll provide practical and commercially focused advice on complex and emerging risk matters. You'll drive continuous improvement across governance, controls and operational resilience while supporting the business to identify, assess, manage and monitor risk effectively.

You'll lead risk initiatives that support investment activities, transformation programs and strategic change, ensuring risk considerations are embedded into decision-making, governance processes and business operations. You'll also play a key role in enhancing operational resilience practices and strengthening the maturity of the Investments risk and control environment.

Success in this role will come from your ability to balance commercial outcomes with effective risk management, influence stakeholders, challenge constructively and drive positive risk outcomes across a sophisticated investment environment.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane or Sydney.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

- Act as a senior Line 1 Risk specialist within Investments, partnering with business leaders to manage risk in line with ART's Risk Management Framework and risk appetite.
- Lead the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of investment risk and control frameworks, risk profiles, key risk indicators and governance processes.
- Provide practical and commercial risk advice to investment teams, supporting informed decision-making and accountability for risk management outcomes.
- Challenge, influence and support business leaders to identify, assess, manage and monitor risks within their areas of responsibility.




- Drive ownership of controls across Investments, monitoring effectiveness and facilitating the timely remediation of control weaknesses and gaps.
- Lead risk assessments for investment activities, new initiatives, business change programs and strategic projects, ensuring risks are appropriately understood and managed.
- Champion the embedding of risk management into business-as-usual activities, investment processes and governance forums.
- Drive operational resilience initiatives across Investments, including service provider oversight, business continuity planning and alignment with CPS 230 requirements.
- Manage the assessment, investigation and remediation of issues, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and opportunities for systemic improvement.
- Coordinate Investments' participation in audits, assurance reviews and regulatory activities, ensuring timely and sustainable outcomes.
- Prepare high-quality risk reporting, metrics and governance papers that provide meaningful insights into the Investments risk profile.
- Partner closely with Line 2 Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit while maintaining clear accountability for Line 1 risk ownership and outcomes.
- Foster a strong risk culture through coaching, education and capability building across the Investments business.
- Identify opportunities to improve governance, risk management practices and operational resilience outcomes across Investments.

Qualifications It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

- You have extensive experience operating within a Line 1 Risk function in investments, superannuation, banking, asset management or financial services.
- Your track record demonstrates the successful implementation and ongoing management of risk and control frameworks within a business-owned risk setting.
- You'll bring strong knowledge of financial markets, investment products, investment operations and the associated risk landscape.
- You're experienced partnering with senior business leaders to support risk-informed decision-making while providing constructive challenge and influence.
- You have demonstrated success embedding risk management disciplines into business processes,



strategic initiatives and transformation programs.
- Your experience includes ownership of risk assessments, control assurance activities, issue management and remediation programs.
- You'll possess strong understanding of operational risk management, control frameworks, CPS 230 operational resilience requirements and contemporary risk practices.
- You're able to balance commercial outcomes with effective risk management, providing pragmatic and solutions-focused advice.
- You have exceptional stakeholder management skills and can build trusted relationships across business, risk, compliance and audit functions.
- Your ability to analyse complex information, identify emerging risks and communicate insights to senior stakeholders is highly developed.
- You'll hold tertiary qualifications in finance, business, risk management or a related discipline, with RMIA, FRM, CFA or similar credentials viewed favourably.
- You're comfortable operating in a highly accountable environment where Line 1 ownership of risk, controls and remediation outcomes is critical.
