Two opportunities available | Senior and Mid-Level | Full-time or part-time options

Donald Veal Consultants is seeking two experienced Traffic Engineers / Transport Planners to join our established consultancy in Midland, Perth:

- Senior Traffic Engineer / Transport Planner – ideally 10+ years’ experience
- Mid-Level Traffic Engineer / Transport Planner – ideally 6+ years’ experience

These are excellent opportunities to work across a diverse range of traffic engineering and transport planning projects for state and local government authorities and private sector clients.

The Senior role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis and may particularly suit an experienced professional looking to reduce their working hours while continuing to contribute at a senior level.

The Mid-Level role is a full-time position.

An attractive remuneration package will be offered commensurate with skills and experience.

About the roles

Depending on your experience and level of seniority, you will be involved in a range of projects including:

- Traffic engineering and transport planning projects for public and private sector clients
- Preparation of Transport Impact Assessments in accordance with WAPC Guidelines, including structure planning, subdivisions and development applications
- SIDRA and/or LinSig traffic modelling and analysis
- Concept and preliminary road, intersection, parking and site layout design
- Vehicle swept path analysis using AutoCAD
- Road Safety Audits
- Roadwork Traffic Management planning and review
- Liaison with clients, stakeholders, road authorities and other external parties
- Providing advice based on relevant standards, guidelines and industry practices

For our Senior opportunity, you will also take responsibility for project management, independently managing projects and, where required, leading small project teams.



You will confidently represent Donald Veal Consultants in technical meetings and provide experienced advice to clients and stakeholders. Depending on your background, there may also be opportunities to undertake RAV assessments and contribute to other specialist transport projects.

About you

We are looking for professionals with demonstrated experience in traffic engineering and/or transport planning.

For the Senior role, you will ideally bring:

- Approximately 10+ years’ experience in traffic engineering and transport planning
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transport Planning or a related discipline
- Demonstrated project management and leadership experience
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- The ability to work independently and lead small project teams
- Experience preparing Transport Impact Assessments in accordance with WAPC Guidelines
- Strong working knowledge of SIDRA and/or other traffic modelling software
- Familiarity with relevant Main Roads WA, Austroads and Australian Standards
- Confidence representing the business in meetings with clients, authorities and other stakeholders

Experience or qualifications in the following will be highly regarded:
- AutoCAD
- Road Safety Auditing, including RSA or Senior RSA accreditation
- Temporary Traffic Management, including AWTM and/or RTM qualifications
- RAV assessments

For the Mid-Level role, you will ideally bring:

- Approximately 6+ years’ experience in traffic engineering and transport planning
- An Engineering degree or similar relevant qualification




- Demonstrated experience with SIDRA and/or other traffic modelling software
- Knowledge of relevant Main Roads WA, Austroads and Australian Standards
- Good technical report writing and communication skills
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small project team

Additional experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- AutoCAD
- Traffic signal design
- Temporary Traffic Management, including AWTM qualifications
- Road Safety Auditing
