Site Supervisor –
Precision Laser Cleaning (PLC)
Full-time | Melbourne-based | Interstate Project Travel
Precision Laser Cleaning is a specialist industrial services company delivering advanced laser cleaning and surface preparation solutions across Australia.
We work across power generation, mining, infrastructure, marine and heavy industry, using high-powered industrial laser technology to remove coatings, corrosion and contaminants from critical assets.
As PLC continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on Site Supervisor to join our operations team and take responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of projects across Australia.
The Role
This is not a desk-based supervisor position.
You will work alongside our crews on industrial sites, operating equipment when required, coordinating daily activities and acting as PLC’s key representative onsite.
Projects can range from several days through to multi-week shutdowns and outages, with a significant amount of interstate travel throughout the year.
You don’t need previous laser cleaning experience — we will provide specialist training on our equipment and processes. We’re more interested in finding someone with strong industrial site experience, practical ability and the confidence to lead a small crew.
Key Responsibilities
As Site Supervisor, you will:
Lead PLC crews on industrial projects, shutdowns and maintenance scopes.
Coordinate daily site activities, labour, equipment and project priorities.
Operate industrial laser cleaning and associated surface preparation equipment alongside the crew when required.
Conduct pre-starts, toolbox meetings and daily work planning.
Ensure works are completed safely and in accordance with SWMS, permits and client site requirements.
Monitor project progress, productivity and schedule against the agreed scope.
Complete daily timesheets, T&M; records, progress updates and basic project documentation.
Communicate directly with client supervisors and project representatives onsite.
Identify and communicate delays, variations, access issues and changes in scope.
Coordinate mobilisation, demobilisation and management of PLC equipment onsite.
Maintain high standards of equipment care, housekeeping and presentation.
Take progress photographs and assist with project close-out reporting.
Support and mentor Laser Technicians and other crew members.
Where required, support surface preparation and industrial coating application works as PLC expands its coating and asset-remediation capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a job rather than waiting to be told what to do.
Ideally, you’ll have:
Previous experience supervising small crews in industrial, construction, maintenance, shutdown or similar environments.
Strong practical and mechanical aptitude.
A hands-on approach and willingness to work alongside the crew.
A robust understanding of site safety and permit-controlled environments.
Good communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
Ability to plan work, solve problems and adapt when site conditions change.
Good basic computer and reporting skills.
Willingness and ability to travel interstate regularly.
Current driver’s licence.
Highly Desirable Experience
Experience in industrial painting, protective coatings, corrosion control or surface preparation would be highly regarded.
In particular, we’re interested in candidates with practical knowledge of:
Industrial coating and protective coating systems.
Surface preparation standards and specifications.
Coating application by brush, roller and/or spray.
Surface cleanliness, profile and environmental requirements prior to coating.
DFT measurement and basic coating inspection.
Corrosion remediation and spot-repair coating systems.
Working with coating manufacturers’ technical data sheets and project specifications.
Existing AMPP (formerly NACE)
coating inspection qualifications, such as AMPP Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level 1 or above, or other recognised protective coatings qualifications would be highly desirable.
Experience within power generation, mining, oil & gas, industrial maintenance, blasting and painting, NDT, mechanical services, rope access or heavy industrial surface preparation would also be highly regarded.
Tickets such as Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP, Forklift, White Card and First Aid are advantageous, but training can be provided for the right person.
About You The right person for PLC will be someone who:
Takes safety seriously without losing sight of productivity.
Leads from the front.
Takes pride in their work and equipment.
Can communicate professionally with both technicians and senior client representatives.
Is organised and reliable.
Remains calm when projects don’t go exactly to plan.
Is comfortable working away from home during project periods.
Wants to build a career within a growing specialist industrial business.
Why Join PLC?
PLC is a growing Australian business operating in a highly specialised area of industrial maintenance, surface preparation and asset remediation.
You’ll receive comprehensive training in industrial laser cleaning technology and have the opportunity to work on major assets and projects around Australia.
As PLC expands its capabilities, there will also be opportunities to be involved in the development of our protective coatings and complete surface-remediation offering, combining specialist surface preparation with coating application and asset protection.
This role provides genuine opportunity to grow with the business as PLC expands its operational capability, workforce and national project portfolio.
If you’re an experienced industrial supervisor who enjoys being onsite, leading crews and getting involved in the work, we’d like to hear from you.
