Position Overview
We are seeking an Agricultural Consultant to work directly with growers and agricultural businesses across Mildura and the wider Sunraysia region. Using plant, soil and irrigation data, you will advise growers on irrigation management, plant health and production strategies, and support the effective adoption of Phytech's monitoring technology to improve productivity, water use efficiency and long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide advisory input to growers and agricultural businesses on irrigation management, plant health, and optimisation of production systems based on data-driven insights.
● Advise on strategies to improve the production, management, and sustainability of horticultural operations, taking into account crop type, seasonal conditions, and regional practices.
● Support the adoption and effective use of agricultural technologies, including irrigation and plant monitoring systems,
through training and ongoing guidance.
● Analyse plant, soil, irrigation, and hydraulic data to support informed decision-making regarding crop production, water use efficiency, and overall farm performance.
● Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with growers, farm managers, agronomists, and agricultural stakeholders across the Mildura and wider Sunraysia region.
● Identify operational challenges and opportunities within farming systems, and recommend practical solutions to improve productivity, efficiency, and outcomes.
● Collaborate with internal agronomy, product, and commercial teams to ensure solutions are aligned with industry needs and best practice.
● Contribute to the development and refinement of agricultural solutions based on field observations, customer feedback, and evolving industry requirements.
● Travel to key growing regions to engage with stakeholders, assess field conditions, and provide on-site advisory support aligned with critical seasonal activities.
● Assist and advise with implementation and operational aspects of Phytech’s irrigation monitoring systems where required, ensuring alignment with recommended agronomic practices and service standards.
● Identify opportunities to expand Phytech’s footprint within existing accounts and current logos, including additional blocks, crops, or solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
● Bachelor degree or higher in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science or a related field.
● Minimum 1 year of full-time work experience in agricultural consulting, agronomy, irrigation management or a closely related field.
● Sound knowledge of irrigation management, plant physiology and horticultural production systems.
● Ability to analyse and interpret plant, soil, irrigation and hydraulic data and translate it into practical recommendations.
● Proven ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with growers, farm managers and agronomists.
● Experience with precision agriculture, irrigation monitoring or AgTech platforms highly regarded.
● Comfortable working independently while being part of a collaborative, cutting-edge team.
● Willingness to travel throughout Sunraysia and other key growing regions, including interstate.
● Current, unconditional Australian driver's licence.
