About the role

Position: Production Manager Employment type: Full time Reports to: Designer / Creative Director

Megan Salmon is a women's fashion design house seeking an experienced Production Manager to own the journey from design concept to finished garment. You will work side by side with the designer to bring each collection to life, managing every step from sample ranges through to bulk production and delivery.

Our production is spread evenly across manufacturing partners in Vietnam, Bali and China. You will be the central point of contact for all three regions, keeping quality, cost and timelines on track. You will also manage stock replenishment and reorders so our best-selling styles stay in stock.

Key responsibilities
Product development and sampling

• Work closely with the designer from concept to final sample, translating design intent into workable tech packs and specifications.

• Prepare and issue tech packs, trims lists, measurement specs and grading to suppliers.

• Manage the full sampling process: proto, fit, salesman and pre-production samples.

• Run fit sessions with the designer, record comments and communicate amendments to factories clearly and promptly.

• Source and approve fabrics, trims, prints, lab dips and strike-offs.

Bulk production

• Place and manage bulk purchase orders across Vietnam, Bali and China.

• Build and maintain the critical path for each collection, tracking every milestone from sample to delivery.

• Monitor production progress and flag delays early, with solutions to protect launch dates.

• Approve pre-production samples,

size sets and top-of-production samples before bulk proceeds.

• Coordinate freight, shipping and customs documentation with logistics partners.

Supplier management

• Act as the main point of contact for all manufacturing partners across the three regions.

• Build strong, respectful relationships with factories and agents, including occasional overseas visits.

• Negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities and lead times.

• Allocate styles to the most suitable supplier based on capability, cost and capacity.

• Assess supplier performance and source new partners when needed.

Stock replenishment and reorders

• Review sell-through and stock levels with the team to identify styles for reorder.

• Place replenishment and reorder purchase orders in time to avoid stock-outs.

• Manage reorder lead times and fabric availability, including holding greige or core fabrics where useful.

• Keep consistent quality and fit across repeat production runs.

Quality, costing and compliance

• Set and uphold quality standards, managing inspections and resolving faults with suppliers.

• Prepare product costings and work to target margins with the designer.

• Keep accurate records of orders, approvals, costings and production data.

• Ensure suppliers meet ethical sourcing, labelling and compliance requirements.

Skills and experience

• At least 5 years' production experience in women's fashion, with 2 or more years in a production manager or senior production role.

• Proven experience managing offshore manufacturing, ideally in Vietnam, Bali (Indonesia) and/or China.

• Strong garment construction knowledge across wovens and knits, plus fabrics, trims and finishes.

• Confident reading and writing tech packs, specs and grading.

• Solid understanding of costing, critical paths, MOQs and lead times.

• Experience with stock replenishment, reorders and working from sell-through data.

• Good working knowledge of freight, shipping and import processes.

• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills; experience with Cin 7 is a plus.

• Tertiary qualification in fashion, textiles or production is desirable.

About you

• Highly organised, able to juggle several collections, suppliers and time zones at once.

• A clear, calm communicator who builds trust with designers and factories alike.

• A sharp eye for detail, fit and finish, with a genuine passion for beautiful product.

• Proactive problem solver who spots issues early and acts before they become delays.

• Commercially minded, balancing design vision with cost, quality and timelines.

• Willing to travel overseas to visit suppliers when needed.

What we offer

• A full-time role at the heart of a design-led women's fashion label.

• Close collaboration with the designer and real ownership of the production process.

• Prospect to travel to and work with our partners in Vietnam, Bali and China.

• Salary: 85-95k

• Location: Fremantle, WA
