Zoos Victoria operates four landmark zoos, Healesville Sanctuary, Kyabram Fauna Park, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo. The Role

The Health and Safety Officer will support the implementation and delivery of health and safety programs, systems and initiatives across Zoos Victoria. Working closely with leaders, staff and sitting within the Health and Safety team, the role provides practical coordination, administration and operational support to help eliminate or reduce workplace risks and promote a proactive safety culture. The position assists with health and safety systems, training, incident management, reporting, health monitoring programs and continuous improvement initiatives, helping to create safe, inclusive workplaces where people can perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and maintain health and safety systems, records,



registers and reporting data to support organisational compliance and performance monitoring.

- Support the implementation of health and safety programs, projects, training initiatives and organisational safety campaigns.

- Conduct workplace inspections, assist with hazard identification and risk assessments, and support incident investigation and corrective action processes.

- Coordinate workplace health monitoring, occupational hygiene, health surveillance and wellbeing program activities.

- Build positive relationships with leaders and staff to provide practical health and safety advice and support continuous improvement initiatives.

About You





You are an organised and collaborative health and safety professional with experience supporting workplace health and safety systems, programs or initiatives. You possess sound knowledge of health and safety principles and their practical application, supported by robust communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You can manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and reporting, and work effectively with people at all levels of an organisation. Your proactive approach, attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement enable you to contribute positively to safe and healthy workplaces.
