About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available within our Form1 Fire business for a skilled Fire Door & Passive Fire Technician to join our Northern team, based in Bennetts Green.
You will inspect, service, repair and install fire doors and passive fire protection systems, helping our clients maintain safe and compliant buildings.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, working 8-hour days, generally from 7:30am to 4:00pm, with travel to client sites across Newcastle, the Central Coast, the Hunter region and surrounding areas. Overtime opportunities are available when required.
You will manage your assigned jobs, attend client sites and communicate with clients about completed work and recommended repairs. You will work independently on many jobs, with support from our wider Form1 Fire team.
Key Duties
- Inspect, test and service fire and smoke doors and other passive fire protection measures.
- Identify and accurately report defects and recommended rectification work.
- Repair and rectify passive fire defects, including replacing fire and smoke doors.
- Install fire doors and passive fire protection systems in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and installation requirements.
- Prioritise jobs and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used and timesheets through Simpro mobile software.
- Work safely and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
Skills & Experience
- Hold a Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing, or have experience in fire door or passive fire protection testing.
- Hold a current White Card.
- Hold a current NSW driver licence.
- Have a sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia.
- Be able to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Take a proactive approach to your work, with a strong focus on customer service.
- Communicate professionally with clients and colleagues and work well within a team.
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
The following would be highly regarded:
- A trade qualification in carpentry.
- Experience across fire door installation, maintenance and defect rectification.
- Experience using Simpro or similar job management software.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to complete a Working with Children Check, police check and pre-employment medical.
