COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTIONS OFFICER
38 hours per week
Hybrid and flexible work arrangements (some out-of-hours work will be required)
Renumeration: SCHADS Level 4 ($46.70 to $50.25 per hour)
About Graham House Community Centre
Graham House is a Community Centre providing a range of services for the South Burnett community. We achieve this with a team of paid staff and a large number of volunteer workers. The South Burnett is a rural region 200-300 kms north-west of Brisbane. Our main building is in Murgon, one of the small towns in the region.
Graham House’s mission is to provide holistic assistance which nurtures the strengths of individuals and the community to empower them to meet their own needs. About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Community Development and Promotions Officer (CD & P officer) to help grow Graham House’s profile, reputation and impact in our community. Engagement with the community in planning and conducting events designed to address community needs, preparing resources to enhance community awareness and education, supporting our volunteers and representing Graham House at local network meetings are just some of the key responsibilities of this role.
Our successful CD & P Officer will have great passion for our vision and mission, commitment to our values and a flair for communicating promotional messaging through a variety of communications channels. They will understand the wide range of people we communicate with, from our clients,
volunteers and paid staff to our community stakeholders. They will be able to identify community needs and design programs to address those needs.
This means our CD & P Officer will have extensive knowledge of the principles of community development as well as supporting volunteers, relevant social media platforms, promotional strategies, evaluation techniques and reporting. They will be creative, analytical with an eye for detail, and have great interpersonal and communication skills.
To be considered for this position you must have:
§ Relevant expertise and experience to undertake the activities required, attained through life experience, previous appointments or relevant tertiary qualifications with appropriate professional experience.
§ Significant experience in the community service/development sector.
§ Previous experience researching & implementing community development events, programs and / or services.
§ Demonstrated skills in supporting a volunteer workforce.
§ Thorough knowledge of promotional techniques and principles especially in relation to Not-For-profit organizations
§ Demonstrated ability to write effective copy for various media release platforms and target audiences
§ Thorough knowledge of social media and web analytics
§ Experience in evaluating promotional activities, programs and events
§ Ability to cope with the pressures of handling varied tasks at the same time and meeting deadlines
§ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
§ Current National Police Check
§ Current Blue Card (or the ability to successfully apply for one)
§ Current Drivers Licence
A degree or diploma in community development, marketing, communications, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
Experience in successfully applying for grants is desirable.
