About the Role
We are seeking a Payroll Officer on a part-time basis to join our team located at our Kwinana Pigment Plant, approx. 35 minutes south of Perth.
This is a permanent part-time opportunity, working an outstanding 38-hour fortnight, offering genuine work-life balance while remaining connected to a supportive and team-oriented team.
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Payroll-related employee enquiries by independently researching issues, identifying root causes, and delivering accurate and timely resolutions.
- Processing end-to-end payroll activities and providing payroll administration support.
- Maintaining employee payroll records and ensuring data accuracy and integrity across payroll systems.
- Processing employee changes, including new starters, terminations, leave transactions, and remuneration updates.
- Producing standard and ad hoc payroll reports and assisting with data analysis and reconciliations.
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and requirements, including Fair Work, PAYG, Superannuation, and Single Touch Payroll (STP).
- Calculating, validating, and reconciling employee overpayments, including allowances, deductions, PAYG, and superannuation impacts, and supporting timely recovery in line with company policy.
- Assisting with month-end activities, payroll reconciliations, audit requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Collaborating with HR, Finance, and site stakeholders to ensure accurate and compliant payroll outcomes.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supporting payroll process enhancements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience working in a busy payroll environment with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- A sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Experience using Dayforce (highly regarded).
- Experience using SAP SuccessFactors (highly regarded).
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and experience producing payroll reports.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the business.
- A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- The ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Flexibility to work additional hours, up to full-time, to support leave coverage and business requirements when needed.
