Job description:

Kangan Institute is seeking a passionate and experienced Community Services - Alcohol and Other Drugs/Youth Work educator to deliver engaging, classroom-based vocational education and training. Based at our Broadmeadows Campus, this role will support students to build the practical knowledge, professional skills and confidence needed to work effectively with young people across community and support settings.

This opportunity is ideal for an educator who brings current Youth Work/AOD industry experience, a student-centered approach and a strong commitment to creating safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments.

Location: Broadmeadows
Role Type: Part-time, ongoing (0.6 FTE)
Remuneration: From $110,589 (plus 12% superannuation) - qualification dependent

About the Role:

As a Community Services Teacher Alcohol and Other Drugs/Youth Work, you will deliver high-quality, classroom-based training and assessment that prepares students for meaningful work supporting young people. You will draw on your industry knowledge to connect theory with real-world practice and help students develop the capability, judgement and professional behaviours required in the Youth Work sector.

You will:

- Deliver engaging, industry-relevant classroom training and assessment in Youth Work
- Create a safe,



inclusive and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds
- Use practical examples and contemporary industry knowledge to bring course content to life
- Adapt teaching approaches and learning activities to meet different student needs
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback and support
- Contribute to curriculum development, validation and continuous improvement activities
- Maintain accurate records and meet training package, regulatory and organisational requirements

You are a passionate educator and Youth Work skilled who can translate industry expertise into practical, engaging learning. You build positive relationships with students and colleagues and are committed to helping learners develop the skills and confidence to succeed.

Essential Requirements

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or higher vocational education qualification
- A relevant qualification in Youth Work or AOD a closely related field
- Demonstrated and current industry experience in Youth Work and AOD
- Experience delivering vocational education and training, preferably in Youth Work/AOD or a related discipline
- Strong classroom facilitation, communication and student engagement skills
- The ability to support students from diverse backgrounds and with varied learning needs

Highly Regarded

- Experience teaching Youth Work and AOD qualifications in a classroom-based environment
- Knowledge of contemporary Youth Work and AOD practice,



sector expectations and professional boundaries
- Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice
- Experience contributing to assessment validation, resource development and continuous improvement
