About the role
This is an interim position. We are looking for an experienced senior clinical leader to step into the Chief Clinical Officer role on a 6-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, you will lead the Quality and Residents pillars, ensuring safe, compliant and person-centred care across our three residential facilities in Ballina and Byron Bay.
You'll protect our licence to operate by strengthening clinical governance, supporting AN-ACC performance and improving outcomes for residents.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the clinical quality and safety components of our Strategic Plan
- Lead clinical governance frameworks and systems that ensure secure, high-quality care
- Oversee clinical workforce capability, including education, supervision, competency development and credentialing
- Run a risk-based clinical audit program and ensure findings lead to corrective action and lasting practice improvement
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards, accreditation requirements and regulatory obligations
- Lead the annual QPS Resident Experience Survey and turn results into documented quality improvement actions, in line with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards
- Provide clinical assurance on quality, safety and compliance to the CEO and Board
- Manage budget and leave within the clinical business unit
- Work as part of the ELT, putting collective leadership and organisation-wide outcomes first
Required criteria
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (no conditions or restrictions)
- Minimum 5 years' senior leadership experience in aged care or health related fields and executive leadership experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in change management
- Significant demonstrated experience in people management
- Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, quality and safety systems
- Strong knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards (including the Strengthened Standards), the Aged Care Act and regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Working knowledge of AN-ACC funding and care minutes requirements
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Ability to meet fit-and-proper person and key personnel requirements for a senior role in regulated aged care, including a current National Police Check
- Current Australian work rights
- Ability to travel between our Ballina and Byron Bay sites (current driver's licence)

- Postgraduate qualification in nursing, health management, gerontology or a related field
