About us

JPGavan makes custom cricket bats by hand in our Sydney workshop. We started in 2012. Our cricket shop at JPG HQ sells bats, protection, Masuri helmets and repairs, with the workshop in view.

The role

You'll take customer service, the shop and dispatch off the owner's hands. You'll answer customers' questions, help them pick the right bat and get every order out the door correctly. Over time, customers will ask for you by name.

This is a hands-on role with no staff to manage. You'll often run the shop on your own, but you're part of a team. You'll work closely with our workshop every day, keeping them clear on orders, changes and what customers need. Casuals help in busy periods.

What you'll do

- Answer customers by email, phone, Instagram, Facebook and text

- Serve customers in the cricket shop and help them choose the right bat

- Handle order changes, repair enquiries and collections

- Pick, pack and dispatch online orders on time and correctly

- Keep the shop tidy, stocked and well presented, and open and lock up

- Manage stock levels, receive deliveries and run stocktakes

- Engrave pre-made bats and upload products to the website

- Help the workshop with finishing: stickers, facings and knocking in

- Pass customer feedback to our bat makers

Over time,



you'll take full ownership of returns and warranty claims.

About you

- A clear, confident communicator with customers, the team and the owner. You're the first person customers turn to for help.

- A real love of cricket and cricket bats. You enjoy helping players find the right bat.

- Highly organised. You keep track of every order, email and promise without being reminded.

- Detail-oriented. You get bat specs, add-ons and addresses right the first time.

- You solve problems with valuable judgement, without waiting to be told.

- Comfortable running the shop on your own, and a strong team player with our workshop.

- You own your mistakes and fix them fast.

- Several years' experience serving customers, ideally in a shop or online store.

- Confident with Shopify and Excel.

- Happy to get hands-on in a workshop.

Hours

Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5:30pm. Friday, 10:30am to 7pm. Weekends off.

Fully on-site at JPG HQ in Rydalmere. No working from home.

Salary

$85,000 to $95,000 plus super, based on experience.
