We are seeking an experienced Café Chef to join our Catering team at Bluey’s Café at The Tradies in Dickson, preparing quality meals during busy breakfast and lunch services.
This role suits someone who is confident working independently and running café kitchen service solo, while working closely with our Head Chef and Catering Manager.
About the role
- Take ownership of the café kitchen, independently managing preparation and busy breakfast and lunch services.
- Prepare and cook dishes consistently and to a high standard, prioritising orders during busy periods.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with the café team, Head Chef and Catering Manager, keeping them informed of service needs and raising issues early.
- Follow food safety procedures, including receiving and storing goods.
- Maintain clean and organised kitchen and storage areas.
- Monitor stock, minimise waste and participate in regular stocktakes.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in a busy café or commercial kitchen, particularly in breakfast and lunch service.
- The ability to confidently run kitchen service on your own.
- Strong organisation, time management and communication skills.
- A proactive approach and a willingness to take responsibility for your work.
- A commitment to food quality, presentation and consistency.
- Relevant cookery qualifications and food safety training.
- A reliable, positive approach and willingness to help the wider team.
- Availability to work the roster below, including weekends.
Roster and benefits:
- Classification and pay will be Cook Grade 2 (Level 3) or Cook Grade 3 (Level 4), depending on experience and skill level.
- Full time position — 38 hours per week.
- Wednesday to Sunday, with 7am starts.
