Are you an experienced Fire Indicator Panel (FIP) Technician looking for your next opportunity?
Detector Inspector Essential Services is currently looking to invest in an experienced FIP Technician to join our growing Fire Indicator Panel division. Working closely with the FIP Division Manager, this role will suit someone with strong technical skills, initiative and a genuine interest in developing their career within the fire industry.
We are looking for someone who is confident working independently, enjoys solving technical problems and is comfortable assisting and mentoring other technicians. The successful applicant will have strong experience with fire indicator panels and fire detection systems and be capable of undertaking programming, fault finding, installations, module replacement and project work.
The role will be predominantly based across metropolitan Melbourne, with both scheduled work and call-out requirements, including after-hours work when required.

About the role:
Working closely with the FIP Division Manager, you will be responsible for completing a range of fire detection and alarm system works across commercial and retail properties, factories and high-rise buildings throughout metropolitan Melbourne.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Programming and commissioning Fire Indicator Panels and associated fire detection systems.
- Fault finding,
diagnosis and rectification of fire detection and alarm systems.
- Installation and commissioning of new Fire Indicator Panels and associated equipment.
- Replacement of faulty or obsolete modules, detectors and other FIP components.
- Completing FIP upgrades, modifications and project works.
- Attending and rectifying fire system faults and call-outs.
- Participating in after-hours call-out work as required.
- Assisting other technicians with complex fault finding and technical issues.
- Providing technical guidance and support to other members of the FIP team.
- Training and mentoring FIP trainees and developing technicians.
- Assisting the FIP Division Manager with technical projects and system upgrades.
- Completing service work on fire detection systems as required.
- Providing clear and accurate reporting of completed works, faults and compliance issues.
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with relevant standards and company procedures.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Proven experience working with Fire Indicator Panels and fire detection systems.
- Strong experience in FIP programming, fault finding and system commissioning.
- Experience with FIP installations, upgrades and module replacement.
- Experience working on projects and completing technical installations.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to confidently work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Ability to assist, train and mentor other technicians.
- Professional client interaction and communication skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to complete accurate reports and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with the FIP Division Manager and wider team.
- Comfortable undertaking both scheduled work and emergency call-outs.
- Comfortable with after-hours work when required.
