An excellent opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel with 7+ years’ PQE to join a well-regarded in-house legal team in the Sydney CBD on a 2-year fixed-term contract. Reporting to an outstanding General Counsel, you will work across commercial and media matters, plus legal advisory, company secretarial, governance and regulatory work, as one of four lawyers in a respected team. The role offers up to $200,000, including super, and real flexibility, with three days a week in the office.

Based in the Sydney CBD, the organisation has a collegiate culture and a legal department that is well regarded by the business and involved in its most important work.

The Role

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will report to the General Counsel and be a senior adviser across the organisation, as one of four lawyers in the team. The work is broad and varied, with commercial, corporate and copyright/IP matters at the core of the role, alongside legal advisory, dispute management, governance and company secretarial work.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including licensing, services and technology contracts





• Advising on copyright and broader intellectual property issues

• Handling corporate matters and giving practical legal advice across the business

• Managing disputes, including strategy, negotiation and briefing external counsel

• Supporting the company secretarial function, including board and committee meetings, papers and statutory obligations

• Advising on governance and regulatory compliance

• Working closely with senior stakeholders and contributing to a strong in-house legal team

About You

You are an experienced commercial lawyer with at least seven years’ PQE, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house experience. You enjoy variety, give clear and practical advice, and are comfortable working autonomously at a senior level.

You will bring:

• Admission to practise in Australia, with 7+ years’ post-admission experience and an unrestricted NSW Practising Certificate

• Strong commercial and corporate law experience

• Copyright or intellectual property experience (media, content or creative sector exposure will be highly regarded)

• Experience managing disputes and working with external counsel

• Exposure to company secretarial, governance and regulatory work

• Sound judgement, sharp drafting and strong stakeholder skills

• A collaborative approach and the confidence to work independently

• Salary up to $200,000 p/a including superannuation





• 2-year, fixed-term contract, full-time (five days a week)
