Newtown
Gymkidz is looking for an experienced gymnastics or children's movement professional to step into a hands-on leadership role at our established Newtown program.
This is an opportunity to move beyond simply coaching classes and take real ownership of a program, lead and develop a team, and help shape the future of a business that inspires children to move, learn and grow.
You'll be joining a passionate, female-owned and operated business, working alongside a fun, supportive and energetic all-female team that genuinely loves what we do. Every day, we have the privilege of helping children build confidence, develop new skills and discover a lifelong love of movement in a positive and encouraging environment.
As we approach our 10-year anniversary next year and celebrate the recent opening of our second location, it's an exciting time to join the Gymkidz journey. We've built a strong reputation within our community and we're looking for a leader who is excited to help us continue delivering exceptional experiences for children and families.
About the Role
Working closely with the Gymkidz Director, you'll take the lead in delivering exceptional recreational gymnastics programs for children aged 6 months to 12 years.
This is a hands-on leadership role, with approximately 60% coaching and 40% leadership, programming, administration and customer engagement. You'll play a key role in shaping the experience of our children, families and coaching team while helping drive the continued success of our Newtown program.
In this role, you will:
- Coach engaging Toddler, Preschool, Kindy, Primary and Ninja classes
- Lead, mentor and support a team of coaches to deliver high-quality programs
- Maintain exceptional standards of coaching, safety and customer experience
- Deliver coach training and contribute to the ongoing development of programs and coaching resources
- Support and develop current and emerging coaches as they grow their skills and confidence
- Build strong relationships with children, parents and families
- Help coordinate holiday programs, birthday parties, workshops and special events
- Take ownership of key projects and initiatives that add value to the business
- Work closely with the Director to continuously improve and strengthen the program
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who genuinely loves working with children but also understands that great programs don't succeed on coaching alone. You recognise that every interaction with a child, parent and coach contributes to the reputation, growth and success of the business.
You'll be someone who enjoys being hands-on on the gym floor while also stepping back to lead people, solve problems, develop talent and drive continuous improvement.
You're confident bringing ideas and taking initiative but equally recognise the value of learning from an experienced owner and respecting the knowledge, expertise and foundations already within the team.
This role requires a leader who is visible, approachable and invested in our community. As Saturdays are our busiest and most key operating day, regular Saturday availability is a non-negotiable requirement.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong experience in gymnastics, children's sport, physical education, early childhood education or child development
- The ability to coach confidently across a range of ages, abilities and program types
- Previous leadership, supervision or team development experience
- Strong commercial and customer-service instincts, with an understanding that program quality, family experience, coach engagement and business success are closely connected
- A genuine commitment to delivering outstanding experiences for everyone
- The confidence to make decisions, take ownership and follow through on commitments
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A Working With Children Check and First Aid qualification, or willingness to obtain them
You'll be successful in this role if you:
- Lead by example and aren't afraid to jump into coaching when needed
- Take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Understand that children come first but parents are our customers
- Can balance people, program quality and commercial outcomes
- Enjoy developing others and creating a positive team culture
- Respect what has made Gymkidz successful while helping us continue to evolve and improve
What You'll Get
This is more than a coaching role. It's an opportunity to step into a leadership position where you'll help shape programs, develop people and play a meaningful role in the future of Gymkidz.
Most of all, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact. You'll help shape the experience of hundreds of children and families, develop future coaches and become a trusted leader within a business that values initiative, relationships and great programs.
In return, you'll receive:
- $70,000-$80,000 + super, depending on experience
- A full-time leadership role with a blend of coaching, leadership and operational responsibility
- Direct access to and mentorship from the business owner and Director
- Genuine influence over program quality, coach development and the customer experience
- The opportunity to lead, mentor and grow a passionate coaching team
- A supportive, workplace where initiative and ideas are valued
- The opportunity to join a well-established business with a strong reputation, clear direction and exciting plans for the future
If you're passionate about children's development, love leading people and are ready to take the next step in your career, we'd love to hear from you!
