Broad commercial, regulatory and senior management role within a global financial services organisation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join a leading global financial services organisation with an established presence across Australia and New Zealand.

Working closely with the Head of Legal, ANZ, you will provide strategic, commercial and regulatory legal advice across the organisation. This is is a senior and influential position offering exposure to business-critical initiatives, complex commercial matters and stakeholders across the wider APAC and global business.

The role also provides the opportunity to lead, mentor and support members of the legal team while helping build a collaborative and high-performing culture.

Your new role

You will work closely with the Head of Legal and senior stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand, providing pragmatic legal advice on a broad range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters, including:

- Commercial contracts, negotiations and business transactions
- Financial services regulation, governance and risk matters
- Product, compliance and operational initiatives
- Disputes, privacy and corporate projects
- Management of external legal advisers

The role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior lawyers, support legal team development, deliver legal training and contribute to key business initiatives across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a senior commercial lawyer with strong technical capability, sound judgement and the confidence to advise within a complex and evolving regulated environment.

You will ideally have:





- Ideally a minimum 9/10 years' PAE
- Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia
- A combination of private practice and in-house experience
- Strong knowledge of the Corporations Act and related legislation
- Experience reviewing and negotiating complex commercial contracts
- Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills
- Experience supervising, mentoring or developing legal professionals
- The ability to communicate explicit and practical legal advice to senior management
- Strong corporate governance and risk-management awareness
- Experience working or advising within financial services
