The Role
The Return to Work (RTW) Specialist plays a critical role in supporting injured employees to safely and sustainably return to work following injury or illness. Working closely with leaders, staff, treating practitioners, Workers Compensation Insurer and the Health and Safety team, this role leads injury management and return to work processes across Zoos Victoria. The position provides expert advice, coordinates workers' compensation claims, develops suitable duties programs and supports managers to meet their legislative obligations while delivering positive outcomes for staff and the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage workplace and non-work-related injury management and return to work programs across Zoos Victoria.
- Manage WorkCover claims and maintain effective relationships with our Workers Compensation Insurer, rehabilitation providers, treating practitioners and injured staff.
- Coach and support leaders in return to work planning, injury management obligations and suitable duties arrangements.
- Monitor return to work performance,
maintain injury management records and report on key return to work and claims management metrics.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of injury management systems, policies, procedures and resources.

About You
You are an experienced Return to Work / Injury Management professional who is passionate about supporting people through recovery and return to work. You have strong knowledge of Victorian workers' compensation and injury management legislation and can confidently build relationships with staff, managers, medical practitioners and insurers. You are highly organised, solutions-focused and able to manage competing priorities while delivering positive outcomes for all stakeholders.
