Site Quality Manager – Power Generation / Major Projects

Major Power Generation Project | Site-Based Role | Long-Term Contract

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Site Quality Manager to join my client on a major power generation project. This is a senior site-based position responsible for leading all Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities throughout construction, installation, testing and commissioning.

The successful candidate will manage the site quality function, ensuring works are completed in accordance with the Project Quality Plan (PQP), client requirements, applicable codes and standards, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project specifications.

This position would suit an experienced Quality Manager with a strong background in power generation, EPC/EPCM construction, heavy industrial, energy or major infrastructure projects, particularly those involving mechanical and electrical erection, commissioning and welding activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the site Quality Assurance and Quality Control function across construction and commissioning activities.

- Ensure the Project Quality Plan (PQP), site quality procedures and associated systems are fully implemented.

- Review subcontractor and partner Quality Plans to ensure compliance with project and client requirements.

- Lead and develop the site quality team and provide quality guidance to construction, commissioning and project personnel.

- Coordinate quality requirements across subcontractors, partners, clients and other project stakeholders.

- Develop and execute the site quality audit programme, including internal and subcontractor audits.

- Manage NCRs, corrective actions, audit findings and quality-related close-out activities.

- Conduct regular site inspections and spot checks to verify construction quality and compliance.

- Lead and coordinate customer witness and hold points in accordance with approved ITPs.

- Support quality inspections and testing across material handling, civil works, mechanical and electrical erection, installation and commissioning.

- Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance and implement corrective actions where required.

- Manage quality documentation, inspection records, test records, turnover documentation and project quality dossiers.

- Ensure quality records are progressively compiled throughout construction rather than deferred until project completion.

- Support walkdowns, punch-list management, work completion, turnover and handover activities.

- Verify implementation of approved design modifications and ensure non-conformances are effectively resolved.

- Coordinate regulatory, statutory and third-party inspections and acceptance activities.

- Provide regular Quality reporting and monitor project Quality KPIs.

- Work closely with Site and Project Management to support safe, on-quality, on-time and within-budget project execution.

Welding & Inspection Responsibilities

A key component of the position will be ensuring welding activities comply with contractual requirements, project specifications and applicable codes and standards.

You will coordinate or oversee the review of WPS/PQR documentation, welder qualifications, welding consumables, equipment calibration and welding traceability, working with qualified Welding Supervisors and inspection personnel where required.

The role will also monitor welding activities in the field, including welding parameters,

preheat/interpass requirements, material traceability, visual inspection, NDT results, defect identification and corrective actions.

About You

To be successful, you will ideally bring:

- Significant experience in a Site Quality Manager, Quality Manager, QA/QC Manager or senior site quality position.

- Strong experience on major power generation, energy, EPC/EPCM, heavy industrial or infrastructure projects.

- Demonstrated experience managing quality across construction, installation and commissioning.

- Strong understanding of Project Quality Plans, ITPs, QCPs, NCRs, audits, inspections, turnover and handover processes.

- Experience managing and auditing subcontractors and construction partners.

- Knowledge of civil, mechanical and electrical construction quality requirements.

- Strong knowledge of welding QA/QC, WPS/PQRs, welder qualifications and NDT processes.

- Good understanding of applicable technical regulations, statutory requirements, codes and standards.

- Experience leading site quality personnel and coordinating directly with clients, contractors and project management.

- Strong communication, leadership, documentation and problem-solving capabilities.

- The confidence and authority to stop work where execution conditions or quality standards are unacceptable.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the site quality function on a significant power generation project, working closely with construction, commissioning, engineering, subcontractors and the client.

You will play a key role in ensuring the project achieves the required quality standards from initial site execution through to final completion, turnover and handover.

Apply now if you are an experienced Site Quality Manager with a solid background in major construction and power generation projects.
