Hobart Podiatrists and Footwear are seeking an experienced Medical Administrator / Practice Assistant to join their friendly team.
This is a diverse role combining reception and administration with clinical support and footwear sales. Working alongside a small team of experienced part-time staff, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practices and provide a warm, professional experience for patients and clients.
The Position:
Working across the co-located practices, your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming and assisting patients and clients at reception
- Answering phones and managing appointment bookings
- Processing invoices, payments and claims, including EFTPOS, HICAPS and Medicare
- Providing general administrative and practice support
- Maintaining clean, tidy clinical spaces and monitoring stock levels
- Assisting clinicians with their day-to-day requirements
- Sterilising medical instruments
- Assisting patients with footwear fittings and sales
- Supporting sales of medical-grade, comfort and orthotic-friendly footwear through the in-clinic store
- Providing leave coverage for other reception staff when required
- Working collaboratively with the wider team to keep the practice running smoothly
There are generally two administration staff working each day, with the role offering a combination of teamwork and the opportunity to work independently with confidence.
About You
You will be a warm, friendly and capable administrator who enjoys working with people and is comfortable in a busy clinical environment.
Essential:
- Previous experience in an allied health or medical reception role
- Excellent computer skills and confidence learning new systems
- Experience with practice management software, Microsoft Word and Excel, invoicing and EFTPOS transactions
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A warm, friendly and approachable manner
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, while also working independently
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask and remain calm during busy periods
- An interest in combining administration with footwear sales and assisting patients with footwear fittings
- Flexibility to work across different days and hours, including occasional leave coverage
- The physical capacity to walk up and down stairs, carry supplies and undertake bending and other activities associated with the role
Desirable:
- Experience using Genie medical software
- Experience working with Apple computers
- Experience with Shopify, HICAPS or social media
- Previous retail, sales or footwear sales experience
