Take or Make is a global market maker in sports markets, with our largest office in Melbourne. We trade our own capital on betting exchanges and prediction markets. We're a small team, which means the person in this seat matters to the results in a way that isn't true at a big shop.
About the role
There's no big overround to hide behind here. Our edge is speed, and the trades you make have a direct and visible impact on the profitability of the game you're trading. The desk trades American football and basketball, with coverage of a few other sports through our market making. This is a casual role worked around the US sporting calendar, and it suits someone sharp who wants high-paid hours around other commitments. We train you on our systems.
What you'll do
Trade live games (moneylines, spreads, totals) on a rapid feed. Most of the opportunities last less than a second
Reprice game states as they happen, in the moments before the rest of the market catches up
Help us meet our market making obligations, including quote uptime and spread requirements
Be able to justify every trade.
We review trades on the price you got relative to where the market settled shortly after, not on whether they won
What we're looking for
Very quick with numbers, comfortable thinking in prices and probabilities
You watch and understand American football and/or basketball
Comfortable making rapid decisions with incomplete information, and comfortable doing nothing when there's no edge
Level headed. No chasing losses, no doubling up because you're down on the night
Available for US game windows, which means roughly 3am to 5am Melbourne starts depending on daylight savings, mostly on weekends. Being upfront: the hours are the hard part of the job
What we offer
$80 per hour including super, with shifts rostered in advance each week — typically 15 to 20 hours across the main game days during the season
You trade with our capital, feed, tech and limits, and we train you up on the systems
Shifts are worked in our South Yarra office, especially while you're learning
We hire on ability — anyone who can price a game rapid is welcome here, whatever their background
