Sea Shells Cafe and Restaurant is looking for a reliable, passionate and experienced Chef to join our growing team in East Devonport.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing fresh, high-quality meals, maintaining kitchen standards and working closely with the team to ensure smooth and productive service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of meals to a consistently high standard.
Assist with daily food preparation and kitchen operations.
Maintain food quality, presentation and portion control.
Prepare ingredients and organise the kitchen for daily service.
Maintain a clean, organised and productive kitchen.
Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
Monitor stock levels and minimise food wastage.
Work efficiently during busy service periods.
Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
Assist with menu specials and current dish ideas where required.
About You
Previous experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
Good knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
Robust attention to food quality and presentation.
Good organisation and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Valuable understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with Sri Lankan cuisine is preferred but not essential.
